Kenai Animal Shelter

Our Mission

At the Kenai Animal Shelter, our mission is to provide compassionate care and a safe environment for the animals in our community. We are dedicated to reuniting lost pets with their families, promoting responsible ownership, and finding loving, permanent homes for all our adoptable residents.

Serving Our Community

Our dedicated team of three hardworking individuals is committed to the well-being of the animals in our care and the residents of Kenai. We recognize that our resources are limited, but we are incredibly grateful for the ongoing support and patience of our neighbors who help us sustain this vital community service.

How We Care

We operate as a municipal shelter located at 510 North Willow Street, where our small but mighty staff manages animal adoptions, local control situations, and daily care for our residents. Every animal in our care is microchipped, spayed or neutered, and vaccinated before finding their new family. We take pride in maintaining a transparent and open environment where every pet receives the attention and care they deserve.

Finding Your Perfect Match

Adoption is a joyful partnership, and we are here to help you find the right companion to share your life with. Our lobby is open to the public from Tuesday through Saturday, and we invite you to walk in without an appointment to meet our current residents. Whether you are looking for a new family member or want to support our mission, we believe in creating successful, happy matches for both pets and people.

Start Your Journey

Ready to meet your new best friend? You can view all our adoptable animals on Petfinder, check our Facebook page for updates, or visit us in person at the shelter during our business hours. If you have any questions, please give us a call at (907) 335-5271—we look forward to helping you make a difference in a local animal's life!

9/24 - Update: Adopted!!!! Roxy is patiently waiting for her forever family...and breakfast! Our adorable girl was featured last week, so please check out her original post for all the details. But here's a quick refresher on this sweet girl: Roxy is a 6 year-old pit mix. She has lived with cats and younger kids and did well with both. We're unsure how she feels about other dog, so a proper introduction would be important. Her tail doesn't stop wagging when she sees people! Exercise isn't at the top of her list. She'd much rather spend her day on a comfy couch, getting pets and enjoying some treats. She's a fantastic passenger for car rides. She also did amazing for her bath and nail trim. Roxy is looking for someone who will appreciate her easygoing, affectionate personality and give her the loving forever home she deserves. Come meet Roxy and take this sweet girl home today!!
