Humane Society of Kodiak Animal Shelter
Our Mission
The Humane Society of Kodiak is committed to preventing animal cruelty, reducing the homeless and abandoned pet population, and promoting the proper care of all animals. We believe every pet deserves a safe, loving future and we work daily to make that vision a reality for our community.
Our Story
Since 1994, we have served the pets of the Kodiak Archipelago with heart and dedication. In 1995, we were contracted to operate the Kodiak Animal Shelter, and by 1997, we transitioned to a No Kill shelter for friendly, adoptable animals to better serve our island home.
How We Help
As an independent 501(c)(3) non-profit, we operate the only animal shelter in the Kodiak Archipelago. Our care model relies on community support, including a dedicated network of foster families who provide a nurturing environment for kittens, puppies, and senior pets while they prepare for their forever homes. Through generous donations and memberships, we provide essential medical care, spay and neuter services, and rehabilitation to ensure every animal is ready for a new beginning.
Connecting Pets and People
We believe adoption is the start of a beautiful, joyful partnership. Our team works hard to understand each animal’s unique personality, likes, and dislikes so that we can help you find the perfect match for your family and lifestyle. When you adopt from us, you gain a loyal companion and the pride of knowing you have supported a local, compassionate mission.
