Matanuska-Susitna Borough Animal Care and Regulation

Our Mission

The Matanuska-Susitna Borough Animal Shelter is dedicated to serving the Alaskan community and animals in need as Animal Advocates and Community Servants. We strive to promote healthy, responsible relationships between people and animals while providing the best possible outcomes for those in our care.

Why We Are Here

We believe that every animal deserves compassion and respect. By providing community outreach, essential animal service programs, and education, our hard-working team aims to protect the health and safety of the Mat-Su Borough while improving animal welfare across the region.

How We Care

We are a Fear Free Certified shelter, which means our team is trained to reduce fear, anxiety, and stress for every animal that comes through our doors. Whether it is through medical care, behavioral enrichment, or our dedicated foster program, we work every day to ensure our animals' lives are better than the day before.

The Adopter Connection

Adopting an animal is a life-long commitment, and we want to help you find your new best friend. Our adoption process is designed as a conversational, personalized meet-and-greet rather than a cold application, ensuring we find the right match for your family and lifestyle.

Start Your Journey

Ready to meet your new companion? You can browse our available pets online at 24PetConnect.com or visit us in person. We welcome adoption walk-ins on Saturdays and Sundays, and our friendly staff is happy to answer any questions you may have about your new family member.
