Megan's Rescue Efforts Society is dedicated to giving abandoned, abused, and neglected animals in Calgary a meaningful second chance at a happy life. We believe in the power of community to transform the lives of our furry companions through compassion and committed care.
Founded by Megan Steele in 2014, our society grew from a personal passion for animal welfare into a flourishing non-profit. We work alongside a dedicated team of volunteers who share a commitment to helping animals in need, relying on the generous support of our partners and neighbors to continue our work.
We operate as a small, volunteer-run, foster-based rescue. Because we lack a physical shelter facility, our animals live in loving foster homes where they receive the socialization, training, and care they need to thrive while awaiting their forever families. Every animal we rescue receives essential medical attention, including spay/neuter services and vaccinations, before they are ever placed for adoption.
We are deeply committed to every animal we save, which is why we take great care to screen potential adopters to ensure the best possible match. Because we prioritize the long-term well-being of our rescues, our adoption process is thoughtful and thorough, involving references and home checks. This focus ensures that our pets transition into homes where they are truly supported for life.
Whether you are looking to adopt, volunteer, foster, or donate, there are many ways to make a difference in a rescue animal's life. We invite you to view our available dogs and cats online and learn how you can help us continue our mission. Won’t you please join us in helping more animals find the love they deserve?
