Cochrane & Area Humane Society
A Second Chance at Life
The Cochrane & Area Humane Society is dedicated to saving lives and changing lives by providing shelter, rehabilitation, training, and compassionate support to pets in need. We believe every animal deserves a second chance, and we work tirelessly to ensure that our community’s animals are treated with the respect and care they truly deserve.
Our Roots in the Community
Founded in 1998, our society began as a collaborative effort between dedicated animal advocates who saw a urgent need for better sheltering conditions in the Cochrane area. Over the last two decades, we have grown from grassroots origins into a vital regional resource, serving Cochrane, Rocky View County, Airdrie, and surrounding Indigenous territories.
How We Care for Our Animals
We operate a professional, well-staffed shelter that combines physical care with essential behavioral support. Our facility includes a rehabilitation center where our staff and volunteers focus on socializing cats and teaching dogs basic obedience, ensuring that every transition into a new home is as smooth and successful as possible.
Your Partner in Adoption
Adoption is a joyful journey, and we are committed to finding the perfect match for both you and your new companion. Our team of experts provides counseling and post-adoption resources to ensure you feel confident and prepared for your new life together.
