Barrhead Animal Rescue Society
Helping Strays Become Pets
The Barrhead Animal Rescue Society is dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming animals, providing them with a second chance at a happy, healthy life. We strive to transform the lives of abandoned and lost animals into beloved companions ready to bring joy to your family.
Our Heart and History
Established on October 21, 2009, and registered as a non-profit in Alberta in 2010, B.A.R.S. was built to serve the Town of Barrhead, the County of Barrhead, and surrounding areas. Our mission is to promote respect for all life by breaking the cycle of neglect and overpopulation through community outreach, public education, and proactive intervention.
Our Foster-Based Approach
We operate as a foster-based rescue, meaning we do not maintain a physical public shelter facility. Instead, our rescued animals are provided with a safe, nurturing environment in the homes of our dedicated foster families. This model allows our animals to receive the individualized care, socialization, and medical attention they need to thrive while awaiting their forever homes.
Building Lifelong Bonds
We believe that thoughtful matching is the key to a successful adoption. Our process is designed to ensure that each pet finds a household that fits their unique personality and needs, creating a harmonious and permanent partnership. When you adopt, you are not just gaining a new family member; you are helping us continue our vital mission of compassion.
