Our mission is simple: to save the most vulnerable animals and enrich the lives of pets and people. We are dedicated to ensuring every pet receives the care, compassion, and chance at a happy future they deserve.
A History of Compassion
Since 1957, the Arizona Humane Society has championed the belief that every pet deserves a good life. From our beginnings as a small group of dedicated volunteers, we have grown into the state's largest animal welfare and protection agency, serving as a vital safety net for the sick, injured, and abused animals in our community.
How We Care for Our Pets
We are a private, nonprofit organization that operates with an Ethical No-Kill Philosophy™, meaning we never euthanize a pet for space or length of time. Our holistic care model includes comprehensive enrichment programs and is supported by our trauma hospital, which is the largest shelter-based, level one trauma hospital in the nation. By focusing on fear-free handling and standards of care that meet the industry's highest benchmarks, we ensure our pets feel safe and comfortable while they wait for their forever families.

10/5 - To help grow Arizona’s veterinarian workforce, the board approved an update to the Veterinary Loan Assistance Program. Under the updated policy, vets who agree to practice four years in Arizona receive: 🐾 Up to $200,000 in loan forgiveness 🐾 One-quarter of award amount after each year of service
