Our mission is simple yet profound: we are dedicated to Helping Animals Live On through life-saving adoption, sterilization, and pet care education. We strive to make our community a safer, more compassionate world for every homeless dog and cat we serve.
Founded in 1994 by Michel Herstam and Heather Allen, HALO began in their Phoenix home and has grown into a vital safety net for thousands of animals each year. We believe in providing the same nurturing care within our shelter that you give to your own pets at home, ensuring every animal receives the essential veterinary support they need to thrive in their new life.
Since our early days as a foster-based organization, we have evolved to combine professional shelter facilities with a dedicated network of support. Today, our 8,600-square-foot North Phoenix headquarters features indoor dog runs, play yards, and specialized spaces for cats, allowing us to offer a high standard of care. We are committed to never euthanizing an animal to make room for others, focusing instead on long-term wellness and successful transitions.
We view adoption as the start of a beautiful, lifelong partnership. Our compassionate team of matchmakers is here to guide you through the process, helping you find a loyal companion that perfectly complements your home and lifestyle. Whether you are considering a permanent adoption or a Staycation to ensure a perfect love match, we are here to support you every step of the way.
Are you ready to meet your new best friend? We invite you to explore our available pets online or visit us at one of our many locations across the Valley. Your decision to adopt not only changes a life forever but also empowers us to continue our life-saving mission for animals in need.
