Maricopa County Animal Care & Control is dedicated to serving the people and pets of our community by fostering a safe, compassionate environment and reducing the homeless pet population. We believe that every animal deserves a loving outcome and work tirelessly to create those connections every single day.

Who We Are

As one of the nation’s largest open-admission shelters, we are committed to finding good outcomes for the thousands of lost, surrendered, and stray dogs that come through our doors. We serve as a vital community resource, working hard to keep pets healthy and happy while actively building a pet-friendly region.

Our Care Model

We are a lifesaving, municipal shelter where animal welfare is our top priority. Our dedicated team of staff and volunteers provides daily care, medical attention, and enrichment for our animals, supported by a network of generous foster families who offer a quiet home environment while dogs await their forever homes. Every dog we care for is microchipped, vaccinated, and altered to ensure they are ready for a healthy life with a new family.
