Our Mission
Maricopa County Animal Care & Control is dedicated to serving the people and pets of our community by fostering a safe environment and reducing the homeless pet population. We believe that every animal deserves a chance to find a loving home, and we are committed to finding positive outcomes for every dog in our care.
Who We Are
As one of the nation's largest open-admission shelters, we play a vital role in the welfare of Maricopa County's animals. We work hand-in-hand with our community to ensure that stray, surrendered, and lost animals receive the support they need while we work diligently to unite them with their new families.
Our Commitment to Care
Our dedicated teams—spanning our shelter, clinic, and animal services departments—are passionate about animal welfare and strengthening the human-animal bond. We operate out of our East Shelter in Mesa, our West Shelter in Phoenix, and our Everyday Adoption Center in Scottsdale, ensuring we are accessible to neighbors across the county. We are also excited to be growing, with a new West Valley Animal Care Center currently in development.
Building Lifelong Bonds
We invite you to experience the joy of adoption and discover the difference you can make in an animal's life. Adopting a pet is a partnership, and our team is here to help you find the perfect companion to join your family. Whether you are ready to open your home permanently or want to get involved through fostering, there are many ways to start your journey with us.
Get Involved
Are you ready to meet your new best friend? We invite you to view our adoptable pets online, visit one of our shelter locations, or join us at an upcoming adoption event. Together, we can create a brighter, safer future for the pets who share our community.
