Union County Animal Protection Society, Inc.
Our Mission
The Union County Animal Protection Society (UCAPS) is dedicated to providing compassionate care, shelter, and medical attention for stray, homeless, and neglected animals. We strive to enrich the lives of our community members—both human and animal—by promoting responsible pet ownership and humane treatment for all.
Our Story
Incorporated in 1985 as a non-profit, tax-exempt organization, UCAPS has served Union County, Arkansas for decades. Our journey is driven by a deep commitment to animal welfare, operating our main shelter facility on Sunset Road since 1988 and opening our welcoming Adoption Center on East Main Street in 2020.
How We Help
Our dedicated team cares for over 200 animals daily, working tirelessly to provide a safe haven for those in need. Beyond daily care, we champion vital programs like spay and neuter clinics, community educational outreach, and a successful transport initiative that connects animals with loving families across the country. We believe that TNR and spay/neuter services are the most effective, humane ways to address pet overpopulation.
Finding Your Perfect Match
Adopting is a beautiful, life-changing journey that brings a devoted companion into your home for years to come. At our Adoption Center, we provide a warm, home-style setting where you can interact with our animals to ensure the perfect match for your lifestyle. When you choose to adopt, you are not only saving a life but also providing us with the resources to rescue and care for even more animals in our community.
