Paws and Claws Pet Shelter is dedicated to providing compassionate care for abandoned pets while helping them find loving forever homes. We believe in the power of community to transform the lives of animals in need.
Our journey began in the late 1980s as a grassroots effort by concerned citizens in Madison County. In 1997, we became a 501(c)(3) non-profit, and with the incredible support of local craftsmen and donors, we built our own shelter facility on county-owned land to serve those who cannot speak for themselves.
As an independent organization, we are not funded by state or local governments, relying entirely on the generosity of community members. Our dedicated team provides essential services, including low-cost spay/neuter clinics, behavior support, and foster programs that ensure every animal receives the medical attention and affection they deserve before finding their new family.
Finding a new best friend is a joyful experience, and we are here to help you make the perfect match. Because we know each animal’s unique personality and history, our staff works closely with you to ensure a transition that is comfortable and rewarding for both you and your new pet.
Whether you are ready to adopt, interested in fostering a pet, or want to volunteer at our shelter or Thrift Cottage, there are many ways to get involved. Please visit us in Huntsville to meet our available animals or reach out to our team to schedule an adoption appointment. We look forward to helping you meet your new companion.
