Central Arkansas Rescue Effort (CARE) for Animals, Inc.
Our Mission
CARE for Animals is dedicated to providing companion animals every reasonable opportunity to live a long, happy life through our rescue, rehoming, and spay/neuter initiatives. We believe that every pet deserves a safe, loving environment and are committed to setting our animals up for success in their new homes.
Our Story
Founded in 1998, CARE has grown from a small group of four dedicated volunteers into a robust organization supported by hundreds of volunteers and staff. Over the past decades, we have successfully placed over 4,800 animals into permanent, loving homes, driven by our shared passion for animal welfare in the central Arkansas community.
How We Operate
Because CARE does not operate a traditional physical animal shelter, we function as a virtual shelter utilizing a dedicated network of volunteer foster homes. We are also incredibly proud to partner with the Arkansas Department of Correction’s Paws in Prison program, where adoptable dogs receive socialization and training from professionally-supervised inmates. This unique approach allows us to provide quality care and behavioral preparation for our pets while they wait for their forever families.
The Adoption Experience
We believe the key to a successful adoption is transparency and support. By investing in obedience and behavioral training for our fosters and adopters, we ensure you have the tools needed to welcome your new family member with confidence. Our commitment continues after adoption, as we require that all CARE animals be returned to us if they can no longer remain in their home, ensuring they are always safe and cared for.
