The Cat Advocates Teaching & Saving Society (CATS) is dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating cats who have been lost, strayed, abandoned, or surrendered. We work tirelessly to promote animal welfare through education, spay/neuter services, and by finding loving forever homes for cats in need.
CATS was officially established in 2019 in the Comox Valley to fill a critical gap in local rescue efforts. Inspired by the memory of a cat named Ollie, our founders set out to reach the 'forgotten' cats of our region—those often left in remote areas to fend for themselves—and ensure they receive the care, shelter, and companionship they deserve.
We are a volunteer-based, registered charity that operates with a focus on providing a warm, safe environment for every rescue. While we maintain a physical shelter and our beloved CATS Thrift Corner, we prioritize a foster-based environment whenever possible to help our cats thrive. Our dedicated team of volunteers provides everything from daily care and medical support to specialized socialization for timid or feral cats.
We believe that adoption is a joyful, lifelong partnership, which is why we utilize a unique foster-to-adopt program. This transition period allows you and your new companion to get to know each other in the comfort of your own home before finalizing the adoption. Our team is committed to making thoughtful matches that ensure the best possible future for our cats and your family.
Whether you are looking to adopt, volunteer, or support our work through the Thrift Corner, there are many ways to get involved. Please visit our adoption page to view our available cats, or reach out to us via email to learn more about how you can help us continue our mission of saving lives in the Comox Valley.
