Fraser Valley Humane Society

Our Mission

At the Fraser Valley Humane Society, we are dedicated to rescuing and caring for lost, abandoned, and homeless cats in the Fraser Valley. Our mission is to provide them with safety, quality medical care, and the heartwarming chance to find their forever homes.

Rooted in Compassion

Founded by a dedicated team of veterinarians during the 1999 flood crisis, we have grown into an independent non-profit charity committed to feline welfare. We believe in a no-kill philosophy, ensuring that every adoptable and treatable cat in our care receives the respect and dignity they deserve.

How We Care

Our life-saving work is powered by a community of valued volunteers, knowledgeable staff, and local veterinary partners. Every cat that comes through our doors receives a full veterinary exam, spay or neuter surgery, microchipping, and essential vaccinations. Beyond medical care, we prioritize socialization and a high-quality diet, ensuring our cats are happy and healthy while waiting for their perfect match.

Your New Best Friend

Adoption is a joyful partnership, and we are committed to helping you find the right companion. Whether you visit us at our shelter or connect with one of our cats currently in foster care, we work closely with you to ensure a smooth transition. Our team provides ongoing support long after you head home, so you are never alone on your journey as a new cat owner.

Join Our Mission

We invite you to experience the rewarding world of rescue by viewing our current adoptable cats today. Whether you are ready to adopt, interested in volunteering, or want to support our programs, we are excited to welcome you into the Fraser Valley Humane Society family. 10/24 - Meet Kitty! Kitty is absolutely loving her cat grass! Nibbling on grass is a natural behaviour for cats, it’s instinctive. Kitty likes attention and pets but can get overstimulated sometimes so she is looking for an owner who can understand body language. She could be good in a home with older children. Kitty has been flea-treated, dewormed FVRCP vaccinated and is due to be examined by a veterinarian, spayed, microchipped very soon. She’s looking for an indoor only home. If you think Kitty could be the perfect companion for you please send us a message or visit her at the shelter. #adoptdontshop #catgrass #tabbycat #catsofinstagram

10/23 - Pete, Finn & Bob are the last kittens of their litter still available! Now that these adorable boys have had their neuter surgeries and their vet exams they are ready to find their forever homes. They are great with other cats, could adapt well to a cat-friendly dog and are also great with children. They’re cuddly, playful and full of kitten energy, except during their afternoon nap. If you are interested in adopting any of these boys send us a message or stop by the shelter to meet them. #adoptdontshop #missionbc #kitten #catsofinstagram #catrescue

10/22 - Millie wanted in the office so badly we put her to work 📝 This lovely lady is a big gentle girl who likes affection but needs her own personal space sometimes. She is very curious and loves to explore places in the shelter (such as the office), so she would love a home where she can investigate new cozy spots. Millie would do best in a home with no other cats or dogs, where she can enjoy all the love, attention and spoiling she deserves. A quiet household with a couple or a family with older children who can understand her boundaries would be ideal. Millie has been examined by a veterinarian, spayed, microchipped, flea-treated, dewormed, and FVRCP vaccinated. She’s looking for an indoor only home. If you think Millie could be the perfect companion for you please send us a message or visit her at the shelter. #adoptdontshop #dollyparton #workingcat #funnyvideo #tuxedocat

10/20 - Meet Joseph! He absolutely loves his catnip mouse which he stole off the toy shelf this morning. He looked like he was having the best time so we decided to let him keep it. This sweet 8 year old boy has the cutest raspy meow. He loves to greet us every morning and let us know he’s ready for his breakfast. Joseph is very affectionate, he loves to nudge your hand for pets and if he takes a liking to you he may jump on your shoulders to get a better view. Joseph has been examined by a veterinarian, neutered, microchipped, flea-treated, dewormed, and FVRCP vaccinated. He’s looking for an indoor only home. If you think Joseph could be the perfect companion for you please send us a message or visit him at the shelter. #adoptdontshop #catsofinstagram #tabbycats #missionbc #adoptablecats

10/13 - Meet Wendigo! Wendigo came to us a very scared kitty, unsure of people and the strange new world around him. But this sweet boy has been showing us that with a little patience and a lot of kindness, he’s capable of coming out of his shell. He’s still learning that humans can be trusted, and he’ll need an adopter who is willing to let him move at his own pace and celebrate the little victories along the way. But there’s one thing Wendigo has absolutely no hesitation about: he really, really, REALLY loves other cats. A feline friend brings out a whole different side of him, and having a confident, friendly cat companion would be incredibly important for his happiness and continued progress. Wendigo may not be the cat who runs up to greet you on day one, but if you’re willing to earn his trust, there’s something incredibly special about getting to watch a once-scared cat discover that he is safe, loved, and home. If you think your home might be a perfect fit for Wendigo, send us a message! #adoptdontshop #catsofinstagram #blackandwhitecats #missionbc

10/10 - Pop down to Fraser Valley Humane Society to meet Kitty and her nine kittens… yes nine! We think she was trying to put together a baseball team ⚾️🧢 These kittens are 12 weeks old, so not quite old enough for their spay/neuter surgeries but they would love for you to visit them. If you fall in love you are more then welcome to put in an adoption application ahead of thier surgeries. #catsofinstagram #adoptablekittens #adoptdontshop #tabbycat #blackcat
