Our Mission
Friends of the Alameda Animal Shelter (FAAS) is dedicated to sheltering and caring for the lost and abandoned companion animals of Alameda, California. We strive to reunite lost pets with their owners and find loving, permanent homes for every homeless animal in our care.
Who We Are
As an eight-time winner of Alameda Magazine's Best Nonprofit Group, we pride ourselves on being a trusted community partner. We are a 501(c)(3) organization committed not just to rescue, but to preventing animal cruelty through education, community programs, and our dedicated medical and training initiatives.
Our Care Model
Our work takes place at both our Main Shelter and our South Shore location, where our team and volunteers provide compassionate care for animals in transition. We utilize a blend of shelter-based care and foster networks to ensure every animal receives the attention they need. From life-saving medical support via our Starfish Medical Fund to behavioral training through our Sasha Training Fund, we work to prepare every animal for a successful transition into your home.
