Now this sweet girl needs people to see her and give her the chance she deserves. Sosha is an absolute sweetheart! She is bright, alert, and eating well. She walks well on leash, gives sweet kisses, and shows signs of being housebroken. Sosha has also done great in playgroups, showing that she is friendly with both handlers and other dogs. 10/11 - Foster Dog Diesel! Diesel is doing great in his foster home. He gets along with the resident dogs and is very loving. -He listens very well -Knows commands -Is crate trained -Potty trained -Loves toys and treats -He might not do great with cats he is reactive to them when he sees them on walks. His foster doesn’t have any. -He has been in a foster home since June 8th (4 months) Diesel was adopted from the shelter as a puppy and found roaming as a stray at 2 years old. 10/10 - Goomba #A1257599 Male, 2 years, 52 pounds Sometimes, all it takes is one person to change a dog's entire story. For Goomba, that angel was ACW97, who saw something special in this boy and refused to let his story end at the shelter. Goomba first arrived at Kern County Animal Services on September 2, 2026. He was shy and kept to himself at first, but over time, he's slowly been coming out of his shell. Sadly, after spending a month at the shelter without much attention from the public, Goomba became a long-stay resident and eventually landed on the euthanasia list. When his time was running out, ACW97 spoke up and asked for more time for him. Goomba was moved to a more visible kennel area, giving him another chance to be noticed. When we visited with Crazy Dog Foster House to photograph shelter dogs, ACW97 made sure Goomba got his moment, too. And what a moment it was! Goomba was an absolute sweetheart during his time with us. This handsome boy does well with other dogs, and beneath that initially shy exterior is a dog who deserves the opportunity to feel safe, loved, and wanted. Goomba's story almost ended before he ever got the chance to find his person. Now, we need your help to give him a new chapter, one filled with a cozy bed, a loving family, and a forever home of his own. Goomba is meant to be someone's best friend. 10/9 - Willow #A1190672 Female, 5 years, 66 pounds Willow is currently tucked away in the back sick kennels receiving treatment for an upper respiratory infection (URI/shelter cold). Because she's out of public view, potential adopters may never get the chance to see the wonderful girl waiting for them! This sweet girl has so much love to offer. Willow has fun-sized lap dog energy and loves sharing sweet kisses with her people. She walks okay on lead and shows signs of being housebroken. She's also eating, drinking, and doing well on her medication protocol. Willow is very friendly and social with other dogs in playgroup, and she loves to play! She's a spayed, 5-year-old girl who deserves a safe, quiet place to finish her medication and recover surrounded by love. 10/9 - Urgency = 10/10 Cannoli #A1258206 Male, 2 years, 53 pounds Help needed NOW! Holy moly, it's a Cannoli! This short, handsome beefcake is a total cutie patootie, and he's already caught the attention of several staff members. Now he needs the public to notice him, too! Cannoli first arrived at the shelter on September 12, 2026. Since then, he's been hanging out in his kennel, charming staff members with his good looks and hoping someone will come along and give him a chance at a forever home. Cannoli loves treats, relaxing on a comfy blanket, and soaking up affection. He's a strong boy on leash, so he'll benefit from someone ready to work with him on his leash skills. Cannoli has had some ups and downs with other dogs at the shelter. He had a disagreement with a kennelmate early on, resulting in their shared kennel being closed off. The cause of the incident is unknown. He later participated in a playgroup, where he was okay around other dogs outside, although he came on strong at first. Slow, thoughtful introductions and appropriate management will be important. Cannoli is currently being treated for a doggie cold (URI) in the shelter's sick kennel area, away from public view. But don't let that stop you from meeting him! He's still available for adoption, foster, or rescue. Unfortunately, Cannoli is now at risk of euthanasia and urgently needs placement. 10/9 - Penny Lane #A1258761 Female, 2 years, 41 pounds Meet Penny Lane, a medium-sized, squishy-faced shepherd mix who is ready to find her forever home! Penny Lane is a calm, mellow girl with a playful and goofy side. She loves playing with toys, rolling around in the grass, and enjoying tasty treats, which she takes very gently. She even enjoyed a burger during her recent outing! Penny Lane is good on leash and may already be potty trained. While car rides make her nervous, she bravely gets in and out of the car on her own. She is also great with other dogs and barely paid them any attention while out and about. With her gentle nature and easygoing personality, Penny Lane could be a wonderful addition to just about any home. Her rescuers think she may do well with children, although this has not been confirmed through testing. She has not been tested with cats. 10/8 - So young! So beautiful! All 5 of them! Sometimes an unexpected litter can happen when an unaltered dog gets loose, and that's exactly how these five adorable puppies came into the world. Their mom got out of the home and came back with an unexpected surprise. After the puppies were born, their owners were unable to keep the entire litter, so now these little ones are looking for loving homes of their own. Janice, Fozzie, Yolanda, Rizzo, and Annie Sue are all sweet and playful and are already available for adoption. There are three females and two males, and they're about 13 weeks old. If you're looking to add an adorable ray of sunshine to your family, come meet these little darlings and give one of them the forever home they deserve! 10/8 - These two don't realize how urgent they are... Mama Sapphire and her baby boy Zane are very short on time due to upper respiratory infections. They were given a small reprieve, giving them a little more time to be seen and hopefully find a safe outcome. Sapphire is a sweet girl with a goofy side. She enjoys playing ball and running around. In playgroup, she walked okay but was a little nervous and kept her tail tucked while exploring the yard. Her son Zane is a shy and submissive young boy who is definitely a mama's boy. He follows Sapphire everywhere and isn't afraid to show her affection. He walks with encouragement and is nervous on leash, but he is sweet with handlers. In the yard, he is shy but likes to greet and play once he feels comfortable. Sapphire and Zane are the perfect little duo. They do not have to be adopted together, but watching this mama and son together makes it easy to see how much comfort they provide each other. Both need someone to step up quickly. Adoption, foster, or rescue could give Sapphire and Zane the safe outcome they desperately need. 10/8 - Raisin #A1258855 Male, 1 year, 50 pounds Raisin is an amazing dog who is gentle, attentive, playful, and full of personality. He was so easy to enjoy during his time outside and showed off just how special he is. Raisin is gentle on leash and would look back to check on his person while walking. He loved playing ball, happily chasing after it and bringing it back. He also knows how to sit and shake, and he was more than happy to show off his skills. To finish his outing, Raisin enjoyed splashing around in the pool. He is the kind of dog who can enjoy some playtime and then simply be happy spending time with his person. Raisin is an incredibly sweet boy who deserves a family of his own. She is currently at risk and needs someone to see her for the wonderful dog she is. Gemma is such a sweetheart and a joy to have around. She loves cuddles and attention and is very calm and gentle overall. She is also patient with little ones, does great in the bath, and loves going for car rides. Gemma is great in public places and enjoys being around her people. She is the kind of lovely girl who would be happy simply spending time with her family and receiving all the affection she deserves. Gemma is also friendly with other dogs and is more on the mellow side. She would make a wonderful companion for someone looking for a calm, affectionate girl to share their home with. 10/7 - Prettiest girl in the shelter? Queen #A1258800 Female, 4 years, 68 pounds Even the prettiest girls don't always get adopted right away. Meet Queen, a beautiful girl who has been waiting at the shelter since 9/22/26 for a kingdom of her own. Queen is friendly and kind, and she has a playful side that comes out when there are plushy toys around. She loves destroying those pesky squeakers and would happily go to battle with a KONG ring toy. Queen is okay around other dogs, but she tends to be more of a lone wolf. She would love a family who will make her feel like royalty, shower her with love, give her plenty of treats, and remind her every day just how pretty she is. Queen deserves a kingdom where she can finally sit upon her throne and be someone's beloved companion. Please help spread the word and find this beautiful girl her forever home.
