The Santa Ynez Valley Humane Society and Dog Adoption and Welfare Group (SYVHS/DAWG) serve our community by promoting the compassionate, conscientious care of companion animals. We are dedicated to providing resources for healthy, socialized pets and ensuring every animal has the chance for a brighter future.
Founded in 1979 as the oldest animal welfare organization in northern Santa Barbara County, we began through the shared dedication of local volunteers. In 2020, we merged our unique strengths with DAWG, creating a partnership that expands our reach and resources to save more lives and better serve both animals and their owners.
Our facility in Buellton is a dedicated space where animals receive professional care, including an on-site veterinary clinic and comfortable housing. From our humble beginnings in private homes, we have grown into an equipped facility featuring kennels, cat areas, and a veterinary surgery suite. Our team works tirelessly to maintain a supportive, safe environment while our animals wait for their forever families.
We believe that every adoption is a joyful partnership, which is why we focus on making the perfect match for both you and your new pet. Our dedicated staff provides guidance during the entire process, including introductions and behavioral counseling, to ensure a lasting, successful relationship. We invite you to fill out an application and visit us to meet our wonderful, adoptable residents.
Whether you are looking to adopt, volunteer, or support our mission, you are an essential part of our community’s success.
