The Santa Ynez Valley Humane Society and Dog Adoption and Welfare Group (DAWG) are dedicated to serving our community by providing compassionate care for companion animals and promoting their welfare. We believe every animal deserves a brighter future and the chance to thrive in a loving environment.
Founded in 1979 as the oldest animal welfare organization in northern Santa Barbara County, our roots began with dedicated volunteers who opened their own homes to rescue animals in need. Today, we operate as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, continuing that legacy by providing essential resources for local pets and preventing overpopulation through dedicated community support.
Our facility in Buellton is more than just a shelter; it is a hub of care featuring 27 dog kennels, 14 cat cages, and a fully equipped veterinary clinic. We pride ourselves on creating a safe, supportive environment where every dog and cat receives personalized attention from our professional staff and volunteers until they find their perfect match.
We are dedicated to ensuring that every adoption is the right fit for both the pet and your family. By focusing on thoughtful, individualized matching, we help create successful and lasting relationships that enrich lives. We encourage you to visit us and experience the joy of finding your new best friend.
