For over 153 years, LA Animal Services has been dedicated to promoting and protecting the health, safety, and welfare of both animals and people. Our mission is to create a more humane Los Angeles by providing a safe haven and finding loving, forever homes for every animal in our care.
Operating six shelter locations across the city, we are one of the largest municipal shelter systems in the United States. We serve approximately 60,000 animals annually, ensuring that each one receives the care, enrichment, and medical attention they deserve from our dedicated team of technicians and veterinarians.
At our West Valley location and across our entire network, we believe in supporting both ends of the leash. Through our innovative programs like the Pet Food Pantry, fostering networks, and community support resources, we work to keep pets and families together. When a new beginning is the best path forward, our shelters serve as a temporary bridge to a brighter future.
Adoption is a joyful partnership that transforms lives. When you choose to adopt from us, your new companion comes spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped, ensuring they are ready to settle into your home with ease. We invite you to visit us and experience the unconditional love that our animals have to offer.
Ready to meet your new best friend? We encourage you to browse our available pets online or visit us at our West Valley Center in Chatsworth to learn more about the adoption process. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of the animals who share our city.
