Founded in 1992, the Benevolent Animal Rescue Committee (BARC) is dedicated to controlling the pet population and finding the best, most loving homes for abandoned cats and dogs. For over 30 years, we have worked tirelessly to rescue, protect, rehabilitate, and care for our furry friends until they join their new families.
As a 501(c)3 non-profit, we rely entirely on the generosity of our supporters to keep our rescue mission alive. We operate as a compassionate network that includes our Cherry Valley Adoption Center and Thrift Store, a facility in Lucerne Valley, and a dedicated team of foster families who provide special care for animals with unique medical or behavioral needs.
Every animal that comes into our care is spayed or neutered before adoption, ensuring we are part of the solution to pet overpopulation. We pride ourselves on being a lifetime resource for our rescues, maintaining a policy to take back any animal we adopt out, for any reason, at any point in their life. Whether they come to us as strays, owner-surrenders, or rescues from local shelters, each pet receives our full attention and care.
We believe that adoption is a joyful partnership, and our goal is to match every animal with a home that fits their specific needs and lifestyle. We encourage you to fill out an application online to begin the process, as this helps us ensure a thoughtful, successful transition for both the pet and your family. We are currently proud to facilitate adoptions for residents across San Bernardino, Riverside, Orange, Los Angeles, San Diego, and Ventura counties.
We invite you to stop by our Adoption Center and Thrift Store at 39245 Vineland St in Cherry Valley, open Monday through Friday from 12 PM to 5 PM and Saturdays from 11 AM to 3 PM. Come meet our adoptable pets, browse our shop, and see how you can make a difference in the life of a rescue animal today!
