TippedEars

Our Mission

TippedEars is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization dedicated to improving the lives of community cats through humane Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) efforts. We believe that we all have a responsibility to be part of the solution for cat overpopulation, ensuring a brighter future for felines everywhere.

Why We Started

Founded by passionate animal advocates with backgrounds in kitten rescue, TippedEars was born from the realization that the cycle of overpopulation starts in our own neighborhoods. By focusing on the root of the problem—preventing the birth of kittens in the streets—we help keep shelter euthanasia rates down and reduce the stress placed on local rescue systems.

Our Care Model

We operate as a foster-based organization, meaning we do not have a physical shelter location for you to visit. Instead, our rescued kittens and cats live in loving foster homes throughout Los Angeles, Orange, and San Diego counties until they are ready for their forever families. This approach allows us to provide personalized care and socialization in a comfortable, home-like environment.

Your Role in Our Journey

When you adopt from TippedEars, you are gaining a lifelong partner in compassion. We work hard to ensure every cat is spayed or neutered, microchipped, FIV/FeLV tested, and fully vaccinated, setting them up for a healthy and happy transition into your home. Each adoption helps us continue our mission of providing second chances to cats in need.

10/7 - He rather run the streets and that's okay ✌️ This feral boy was trapped for tnr but had a bad upper respiratory infection and some teeth issues. One of our wonderful volunteers @cguardiola__85 held onto him and got him healthy enough for surgery. After his uri cleared up, he went in for a dental, neuter and vaccines. He was assessed while being held and it was determined that he is indeed feral and very much would enjoy life back at his outdoor colony. Feral cats are just as deserving of medical care and we do our very best to get the cats we come across as healthy as possible. 10/2 - We rescued this sweet girl at the end of June. She was with me for just a few hours before heading to her foster. She was an unexpected intake. I went to the property looking for a different cat. We had already taken in all the kittens from this location (so I thought) and had TNR'd most of the adults. So I was there to assess for any remaining cats. The truth is, I had seen this kitten before and initially, the feeders didn't want to give her up. They changed their mind when a kitten was accidentally ran over by a family member. Unfortunately or fortunately, I was there to witness the tragedy and convinced them to relinquish all the remaining kittens. But this particular kitten, we could not find. I honestly thought she had passed. I was happy to see she was still alive but she was in bad shape. So I just scooped her up and called @heyspenkar who had taken in a few other kittens from this colony and she agreed to foster her. Spencer, who is the queen of giving her fosters the most unique names, named her Count Binface leader of the Recyclons. Little did we know that she would be her very last foster. Spencer is moving in a month. We are so very sad to lose her as a foster but very happy for her. That being said, let's try to get her fosters adopted. She still has FOUR that have had zero interest 😿 Super Hans 14 Beans Please Sir, Can I Have Some More? Count Binface, Leader of the Recyclons

9/24 - Intake our ringworm children with me …. (an abridged version because the real thing takes me about 30 minutes minimum) 🐱 When we rescued these guys off the street, we already knew all their missing fur was likely ringworm. We prepped the meds for the foster ahead of time, along with our standard deworming and flea every cat receives. Once again, thank you @eazieduzit for not being afraid of a little fungus. We had been trying to get these guys off the street for weeks, but no one wanted to take in probable ringworm 🍄 Then - we bring out the cats! They are weighed, gendered, and microchipped. Everyone is also woodslamped (a type of black light to show some strains of ringworm) to determine the severity of their ringworm. Normally, our cats would be combo tested if 2lbs and vaccinated if healthy. These guys get to wait until their next visit for that fun. We can’t wait to see their glow up ✨ Where do your donations go? To all these medications and ongoing treatment! 9/23 - We are so grateful to @eazieduzit for stepping up to foster these ringworm kittens. It was such a relief to get them off the street. Ringworm is a fungal infection that a lot of people are scared of because it is contagious and will live in the environment. Unfortunately, this leaves A LOT of kittens and cats at great risk on the streets and in shelters. Ringworm can be annoying but it is not fatal. As long as kittens are quarantined while infection is present and the environment is properly disinfected with bleach or rescue cleaner, it is a piece of cake. We encounter a lot of rw on the streets. Please consider fostering a rw litter, it could quite literally safe their life.
