Our Mission

The Yolo County SPCA is dedicated to improving the lives of animals in our community through rescue, education, and advocacy. Our goal is to create a more humane tomorrow for the people and pets who share our lives.

Our Story and Purpose

Founded in 1974 by a group of passionate individuals, we have spent decades committed to the welfare of local animals. We address community needs through active promotion of spay and neuter benefits, vital outreach programs, and our dedicated adoption services.

How We Care

We operate as a foster-based organization, which means our adoptable animals reside in loving foster homes rather than a traditional shelter environment. This unique model allows us to learn the individual personalities of our pets, ensuring we make the best possible placements for every animal in our care.

Your Role in Our Journey

Adoption is a joyful partnership that changes lives, and we are here to help you find your perfect companion. By choosing to adopt, you support a network of volunteers and foster parents who work tirelessly to provide a better future for deserving animals. Every animal in our care is microchipped, vaccinated, and spayed or neutered to ensure they are ready for their new family.

Join Our Community

There are so many ways to get involved, whether you are looking to adopt, volunteer, or visit our thrift store to support our rescue programs. We invite you to view our adoptable pets online or learn more about our upcoming events and volunteer opportunities. Together, we can make a lasting difference for the animals who need us most.

9/18 - Does your pup need a little extra fun in their life? Little Audrey (black and white) is a 1-year-old cutie looking for a family who has a young dog for her bond with. Her favorite activity is wrestling with her foster sister and she can often be found cuddling with her, too. Audrey appears to be a chihuahua/terrier mix, who has a very terrier personality - confident, fun, and affectionate. She is a petite girl weighing in around 9lbs and is the perfect mix of puppy and lap dog energy. She would thrive in a semi-active home that wants a pup to bring along for adventure, but also loves cuddle time. Audrey is housetrained using a dog door and has done well being left for short periods during the day. She wouldn’t be a good fit for apartment life and needs a home without any small animals. She has done great with kids 7 years and older. If Audrey sounds like the bundle of love your family needs in their life, head to our website, yolospca.org/adopt, to submit an application! #adoptme #rescueismyfavoritebreed #rescuedogsofinstagram #yolospca #fosteringsaveslives
