Spark Rescue Santa Barbara
Our Mission
Spark Rescue Santa Barbara is a volunteer-led, 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to rescuing homeless pets that have been abused, abandoned, or overbred. We believe in providing social rehabilitation and emotional recovery to bring animals into loving, permanent homes.
A Legacy of Compassion
Founded in 2014, we operate as a genuine no-kill animal welfare agency serving Santa Barbara, Ventura, Ojai, and Santa Maria. As a grassroots community organization, we thrive solely on the heartfelt generosity of our supporters to ensure every dog and cat receives the care and love they deserve.
Our Care Model
We believe animals thrive best in a family environment, which is why we are a foster-based rescue. Our animals live in pre-approved homes where they receive love, attention, and individualized care while they await their perfect match. We are currently working toward a future sanctuary to expand our ability to rescue even more dogs and cats across the county.
Joining Our Family
Adoption is a joyful partnership, and we are committed to making thoughtful matches that ensure a lifetime of happiness for both you and your new pet. Our process includes a thorough application and careful vetting to guarantee that each animal finds a secure, safe, and loving environment tailored to their unique needs.
Take the Next Step
Are you ready to find your new best friend or open your home to a pet in need? We invite you to browse our current list of available rescues, learn about our foster-to-adopt opportunities, or connect with our team to start your journey. Together, we can create a lasting legacy of compassion, one paw at a time.

9/24 - Meet Sugar A 5-month-old terrier mix with a heart full of love! 🐾💕 This sweet little girl adores her people and loves gazing into your eyes while soaking up all the pets. She’s intelligent, learns quickly, and carries a wise, thoughtful spirit beyond her years. Sugar is wonderful with other dogs and makes excellent choices in her interactions. She can be shy when meeting new people, so she’d thrive in a home with a confident lead dog to help her navigate the world and build her confidence. Interested in adopting Sugar?
