The Animal Pad
Saving Lives, One Paw at a Time
The Animal Pad is a San Diego-based, all-breed dog rescue committed to saving dogs from high-risk situations and the streets of Mexico. We are a non-profit dedicated to creating a safe space for dogs in need and building a community of compassion.
Our Journey
Since 2010, we have stayed true to our mission because we saw a need and couldn't unsee it. We established a cross-border rescue network to help dogs who have never known a name or a home, turning their hard stories into beautiful comebacks.
The TAP Approach
We are a foster-based rescue, meaning our dogs live in loving homes while they wait for their forever families. Every dog receives thorough veterinary care, including vaccinations, spay/neuter services, and microchipping, ensuring they are healthy and ready for their new life. Our operation is powered by a dedicated team of volunteers and fosters who provide the healing and love our dogs deserve.
Your Perfect Match
We believe in finding the right home for every dog rather than the fastest applicant. Our process is designed to match each pup with a family that will be obsessed with them, ensuring a lifelong bond. Whether you are ready to adopt, foster, or volunteer, you are helping us give these perfectly imperfect dogs a fighting chance.

- Staff dedication
- Thorough adoption process
- Communication delays
9/30 - This rescued puppy was too scared to trust anyone, then he offered his foster mom his first paw
A severely malnourished street puppy receives medical care, nourishment, and patience before transforming into a healthy, playful, trusting dog.
10/10 - Pilates, puppies, and a whole lot of serotonin. 🐶🤍🧘♀️ We stretched, we snuggled, and hopefully helped a few sweet pups find their forever homes. 🥹 Huge thank you to everyone who came out to move with us and support pet adoption! Proof that the best kind of SHIFT happens when we bring our community together. 🐾✨ #SHIFTPilates #PuppiesAndPilates #AdoptDontShop #SanDiegoEvents #SomaticPil
