Our Mission

Shadow Husky Rescue, Inc. is dedicated to rescuing displaced, abandoned, or neglected huskies and providing them with a vital second chance at life in loving, permanent homes. As our President Tim McVicker says, "We can’t save them all, but the one you do save can change your life forever!"

A Passion for Huskies

Founded by a team of dedicated professionals and volunteers, our organization exists because we believe every husky deserves safety, care, and a supportive family. We work tirelessly to address the needs of these unique dogs by providing medical care, nutrition, and essential advocacy to prevent homelessness and euthanasia.

Our Foster-Based Approach

We are a strictly foster-based rescue, meaning our dogs live in supportive, caring homes rather than a traditional shelter facility. This allows us to provide personalized attention and a loving environment for each husky while they wait for their forever family. Because we operate through this network of dedicated foster homes, we carefully coordinate all meet and greets individually to ensure the best possible match for both the dog and the adopter.

10/10 - Master Wolf with Shadow Husky Rescue has a Beautiful Senior 9 to 10 years old female named Maya that needs our help out of Temecula Ca.! Here is what the owner had to say~ “Hello, I am reaching out because I need to surrender by husky. Her name is Maya. She’s about 9-10 years old. She is spayed. I have her paperwork. It hard to say this but I need to give her up due to my living situation. I separated from my ex about 2 years ago and She’s not adjusting well without him. He won’t take her. I work 40 hours a week and I can’t spend much time with her which is causing her major depression and outbursts. She needs someone to look after her. She’s not used to small children but she’s great with small dogs Temperament- she’s loves people but isn’t too sure about small children. Does better with teenagers. Is very good motives. She doesn’t do loud noises. She hides. She loves her create. Loves to be close by you. Loves to look out the window or sunbathe. Can go for 1- 1 1/2 mile run or walk. 10/5 - Today was sweet for Master Wolf with Shadow Husky Rescue who pulled 🌝🌸 Moonflower exactly 3 years ago today out of the San Bernardino Animal Shelter ID #A559319. Once I saw her beautiful soft face and precious demeanor it was a go!! She had a foster and 2 adopters for whom we are very grateful but all of them could not keep her. Since August we have searched in vain for a new home for Moonflower and did not want to bring another dog to the sanctuary. But today she fit into our pack very well and was very eager to make friends. Moonflower will have to learn and memorize the lay of the land (just like Shelly our other blind girl did in 2015 when she arrived), and it will take time to develop routines. Moonflower has some medical needs that we will oversee. Liz picked up her prescriptions in San Diego this morning. We are in love with her. Stay tuned for more to come of this sweet precious girl. 10/4 - Master Wolf with Shadow Husky Rescue has a sweet owner surrender male husky out of Las Vegas NV. Due to Allergies. Ace is a smart boy who knows all his commands and will roll over when asked. The owners will transport anywhere to make sure Ace finds a perfect loving home. Here is what they had to say about Ace ~ Hi Tim, “We have to give up 7 year old Ace due to our daughter being allergic to him. Ace is generally pretty calm. However, he does have some resource guarding specifically with bones and sometimes food. He also can have some separation anxiety and will counter surf when left alone. He has been around other big dogs and he usually does good with them. Does not do well with small dogs and has never been around cats. He is house trained and trained to use a doggy door. He is up to date on vaccines and is fixed. Happy to answer any other questions you may have. 10/4 - We couldn’t go to sleep without letting Ronan play with his new favorite ball! Shadow Husky Rescue, Inc. pulled senior husky RONAN ID #26-1222 from the SEAACA Downey shelter on 6/13/26 with the help of Sarah - SEAACA shelter volunteer 🐶 Sarah Elizabeth. Ronan was scheduled for euthanasia 4 days after his arrival with massive “perianal adenoma” tumors around his anus caused by testosterone. Dr. Keeshan removed the benign tumors and neutered him at Veterinary Surgical Specialist. Ronan has been at the sanctuary a little over 3 months. You know what they say about the rule of 3? Yep Ronan is here to stay. He’s home and he knows it. We love him so much 💕💕💕💕💕💕💕 #shadowhuskyrescue #adoptdontshop #huskiesoffacebook

10/4 - Master Wolf has the cutest 1 year old little Husky Corgi mix that is an Owner Surrender out of Orange County! Weighing in at only 25 pounds this precious soul was given up by her owner to run the streets after 2 shelters turned the owners down trying to surrender her. Poor Star just had a bad human and was at their mercy. She ended up at a police station in Seal Beach where she was picked up by a good human that is now fostering her. Unfortunately she can’t keep her and called us for help. Here is what they had to say~ Hi Tim, “Temperament ~ Star is a fun girl seems pretty calm with moments of wanting to play, she doesn’t seem socialized well as she doesn’t know how to play with toys or anything. She is potty trained with puppy pads outside since I had her she has gone there . She seems to be husky cattle dog mix maybe corgi mix too unsure she likes to run around for short sprints then tires out and relaxes most of the day She has been in a crate in my home when I leave she is using my current dogs crate She doesn’t mind my dog but doesn’t play with him either she just has a neutral energy to him . My vet said she looks about 1 year old and there was no chip The woman who dumped her supposedly tried to dump her at a few shelters and was declined . There is a police report to verify this if needed. I am not her owner I just tried to save her from a shelter or animal control getting her. I feel like she would thrive as a working dog she is so adorable we would love to keep her but I just can’t take on a second dog our life isn’t fit for it. 10/3 - ⚠️THUNDER⚠️ https://huskycoffeecompany.com/products/meet-our-dogs-of-the-month-october-2026 THUNDER IS DOG OF THE MONTH with Husky Coffee Company!# Thunder the certified therapy dog is one of Greta’s 8 pups born 1/5/25 after we rescued Greta ID #A5662357 from the Lancaster shelter in 12/24. For every bag of coffee purchased with Thunder’s photo this month Husky Coffee Company will donate $5 to Shadow Husky Rescue, Inc.! Thunder has a job attending the Howard Gardner Community Charter School, a K-8 school in El Cajon San Diego County. He goes to school every day with his human Mom who is its Executive Director Kat Shaw. He loves on everybody, has lunch with the students and gets baths. The children earn time with him, and Thunder provides a lot of comfort to them. Thunder’s presence has increased enrollment and attendance because students feel safe and supported by him. He is learning new tricks including pushing the button for treats! Students practice reading with him; he loves a good book. Staff LOVE him and they take Thunder time. Anyone can write to Thunder and he WILL answer! (647 E St., Chula Vista, CA 91910). We are among his BIGGEST fans! Keep it up! Here is what the owner had to say~ Hi Tim, Name: Sofi Breed: Husky Mix (Don’t know what else) Age: 7-9 months approximately She will be spayed soon. Personality: Friendly Observations: Very smart. Learned “wait” (for her food) and sit very quickly. She figured out how to open the door into the house from the garage by herself. Now she lets herself in after going potty. Quite amusing. Story: I’m fostering Sofi for a young woman who could not keep her. I cannot keep her as I already have 5 dogs. Temperament: Great and she gets along great with other dogs Vaccinations: Are current for her age of 7 months. 10/1 - We wanna give a REALLY HUGE SHOUT OUT to Cyndy Weitzeil for handmaking this chunky knit paw blanket for Valerie Byrne who randomly was selected to receive this prize for being one of the donors who helped us pay for SKYE's TPLO surgery last week. Valerie is currently fostering Wendy for us (seen in the bottom right hand). Wendy is in the video with a quick cameo from Yeti Valerie's husky too. Two amazing ladies and their huskies!!!!
