Siskiyou Humane Society Inc.

Welcome to Siskiyou Humane Society Inc., where our mission is to improve the lives of companion animals in our community. Established in 1968, our Adoption Center in Mt. Shasta has been a safe haven for hundreds of homeless cats and dogs each year. We are committed to sheltering, rehabilitating, and reducing pet overpopulation, while also finding permanent, loving homes for every animal in our care. At Siskiyou Humane Society, we believe in promoting responsible pet ownership and enhancing the bond between humans and animals. Our dedicated staff and volunteers take the time to get to know each animal individually, allowing us to provide meaningful matches for potential adopters based on family dynamics and lifestyle needs. As a proud “no-kill” facility, we prioritize the well-being of our animals. No pets are euthanized based on their duration of stay or to create space for new arrivals. Every pet adopted from our shelter is vaccinated, spayed or neutered, and provided with permanent microchip identification, ensuring a safe and healthy transition into their new homes. Our commitment to preventing pet overpopulation includes offering valuable resources to our community, such as low-income Spay/Neuter assistance programs and a Community Pet Resource Center in Yreka. This center provides essential support, including free microchips and a pet food pantry for those in need. Education plays a key role in our outreach efforts. We offer humane education presentations covering topics like dog-bite prevention and kindness to animals to schools, youth groups, and various organizations. These programs are designed to cultivate a compassionate environment for both pets and people. As a private, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, Siskiyou Humane Society relies on the generosity of our community through donations, grant funding, and sales from our thrift store in Mt. Shasta. We invite you to join us in our mission. Whether you're looking to adopt a furry friend, volunteer your time, or support us financially, every effort makes a significant impact. Your newest family member could be waiting for you right now! Explore our available dogs and cats and take the first step in bringing joy to your home. Thank you for considering the Siskiyou Humane Society — together, we can cultivate a compassionate community for animals and their humans.
