Our Mission
The ASTRO Foundation is dedicated to rescuing cats and dogs in Oakdale, Riverbank, and Escalon, transforming passion into action by providing the care animals need while preparing them for the future they deserve.
Our Story
Founded in 2012 by a small group of animal lovers, we have grown from a foster-based rescue into a full-service organization. We are proud to serve our community, opening our first adoption center in 2021 and moving into our current, larger home on South Stearns Road in 2025 to better serve animals in need.
How We Help
Our work is powered by a dedicated blend of a physical adoption center and a compassionate network of foster homes. By relying on community support, grants, and our local Thrift & Gift shop rather than government funding, we provide rescued animals with the stability and love they need while awaiting their forever families.

Adopting a pet from ASTRO is about creating a joyful, life-long partnership. Whether you find your match at our adoption center or through one of our foster families, you are giving a deserving animal a second chance at a happy life while helping us build a more compassionate community for everyone.

10/3 - Our special guy Toto is still waiting for his forever home. He has one damaged eye and the other has some scarring but he still gets around and acts like he has perfect vision. He had a rough entry to life but has become the sweetest, most loving guy. He adores being with other cats and soaks up any attention you give him. He is waiting for you at our adoption center 🐾

10/2 - Walter is one of our ringworm kittens. He was also battling an upper respiratory infection. He remains a very playful and affectionate little guy. He would love a foster who doesn’t mind helping him get through this pesky fungus. We can teach you how to properly manage ringworm and provide all supplies. 9/25 - 🐾 Say hello to Benny! 🐾 Benny is 1.5 years old and a total goofball! This lovable guy does great with other dogs and absolutely loves to play. He’s still very much in his puppy era while he figures out how to become an adult — even though he knows his basic commands, Benny hasn’t quite realized that he’s a bigger boy now! 😂 Benny is not available for adoption just yet, but he would absolutely love to find a foster home where he can continue to grow, learn, and soak up all the love and attention he deserves. He’s full of love, excitement, and playful energy, and he’s ready to bring plenty of smiles to his foster family. ❤️🐶 If you think you might be the perfect foster home for Benny, reach out and help this sweet goofball on his journey!
