Our Story and Community
Founded in 1932, we have spent decades serving as a compassionate refuge in the beautiful Ojai Valley. As a private, community-funded nonprofit, we rely on the kindness of supporters like you to remedy the challenges of overpopulation, neglect, and abuse through outreach, education, and direct care.
How We Provide Care
Nestled on our 4.4-acre property, we offer a safe, nurturing environment where shelter residents receive medical treatment, proper nutrition, and essential socialization. Beyond our facility, our HSVC Cares outreach program provides free pet food, affordable vaccinations, and low-cost spay and neuter services to help keep families together. We also proudly serve as a vital evacuation center for animals during natural disasters.
