Peace of Mind Dog Rescue

Our Mission

Peace of Mind Dog Rescue is dedicated to serving as a resource and advocate for senior dogs and senior people on California's Central Coast. We strive to provide comfort and security for these beloved companions at every stage of their lives.

Why We Serve

We understand that life changes, and we are here to ensure that no dog is left behind. Our organization focuses on the unique needs of senior dogs, finding them loving homes when their previous guardians can no longer care for them, or when they are found in shelters needing a second chance.

How We Help

Our work spans from intake and adoptions to community support through our Helping Paw program, which provides financial and volunteer assistance so seniors can keep their pets with them as long as possible. Additionally, our Perpetual Care program allows guardians to make pre-arrangements to ensure their dogs are cared for should they ever become unable to provide for them personally.

The Adopter Connection

Adopting a senior dog is a deeply rewarding experience that brings joy and gratitude into your home. By choosing to adopt, you are providing a deserving dog with the safety, comfort, and companionship they truly deserve in their golden years.

Join Our Mission

We invite you to experience the life-changing impact of rescue firsthand by exploring our current adoptable dogs. Whether you are looking to adopt, volunteer, or support our efforts, we would love to connect with you. Please visit our website to see our adoptable pets, sign up for our mailing list, or contact us at our Pacific Grove center to learn how you can become part of our community.

10/7 - Adopt or Foster: Barbara Walters & Vanna White Barbara Walters | French Bulldog | Female | ~7 y/o | 27 lbs Vanna White | French Bulldog | Female | ~7 y/o | 31 lbs Visit Our Website for More Info! These two Frenchies share a reel, but they aren’t a bonded pair. Each one is looking for her own foster home! 📺 Barbara Walters is as charming as her namesake. She loves meeting adults, kids, and other dogs, and she’s still full of spunk. 🎙️ Vanna White is sweet and friendly, even while she works through some skin allergies. She’s happy to cuddle or go for a walk, and she gets along with everyone she meets. 🌟 Both girls are crate-trained and know their basic commands. Lights! Camera! Foster! 🎬 📍 Pacific Grove, CA www.POMDR.org

10/2 - Adopt: Guppy Border Collie/Shepherd mix | Male | ~6 y/o | 40 lbs Visit Our Website for More Info! Guppy is part Border Collie and part Shepherd, and you can see both in him. He loves a good game of fetch, sticks close to his person, and knows “sit,” “down,” “paw,” and even “other paw.” 🐾 At night he wants to sleep right next to you, preferably under the blankets. Scratch the right spot on his belly and his back leg starts kicking. Every morning he chases his squeaky toy around, then tucks it somewhere safe for later. Guppy needs an experienced, patient adopter in a quiet home with women only and no cats. Earlier on, he could get grumpy about being handled, and X-rays later showed significant arthritis in his spine that was likely making him sore. Now that he’s on pain and anti-inflammatory meds, he’s feeling much better and is back to his loving self 🌻 Guests and any dog siblings should be introduced slowly, because he takes guarding his home seriously.

9/29 - For the Love of Dogs 2026 was a sunny afternoon full of senior dogs and plenty of bright personalities. ☀️ A big thank you to @chaminaderesort for hosting us in Santa Cruz and giving us such a beautiful setting for the day. We had a wonderful time connecting with our volunteers and supporters in the Santa Cruz area and celebrating the heartwarming stories that come out of our lifesaving programs. 🐾 To everyone who attended, placed a bid on a silent or live auction item, or bought an event t-shirt, thank you. All of your support goes directly to helping senior dogs and the senior people who love them. 🐶 And finally, a special thank you to our sponsors for making the day a success so every dollar donated from our supporters goes directly to helping senior dogs and senior people!
