Our Story
Founded in 1965 as the Lost Animal Registry and incorporated in 1967, Pets In Need has spent over six decades saving and serving animals in the Bay Area. From our humble beginnings to our current operations in Redwood City and Palo Alto, we have remained dedicated to providing safety and dignity to every animal in our care.
How We Help
We accomplish our mission by transferring cats and dogs from public shelters where they are at risk due to space or financial limitations. At our animal-friendly facilities, we prioritize high-quality care, utilizing positive reinforcement training and Fear Free certified staff to ensure every animal feels secure while waiting for their forever family.
