The Milo Foundation is dedicated to rescuing adoptable dogs and cats from high-kill shelters and finding them loving homes where they can thrive. We strive to provide a vital second chance for homeless pets through compassionate care, rehabilitation, and education.
Founded in 1994, our organization was inspired by a special Australian Shepherd named Milo. Despite being deaf and blind, Milo lived a joyful life, proving that every animal deserves a chance to flourish when given the right support. His legacy continues today as we work to ensure every pet finds a safe, happy future.
We are an established 501(c)(3) no-kill organization providing a comprehensive care model for animals in need. Our work includes operating the Milo Point Richmond Adoption Center and a 330-acre Sanctuary in Mendocino County for animals requiring extra rehabilitation or space. Through our dedicated network of fosters and shelter facilities, we strive to provide every rescued animal with medical care, socialization, and the security they need to prepare for life in a new home.
At Milo, we believe that adoption is a joyful partnership. We are committed to helping you make the perfect match for a new four-legged family member by providing transparent information about our animals’ unique personalities and needs. Our team is here to support you throughout the process, ensuring a smooth transition as you welcome your new companion home.
You can help save a homeless pet today by exploring our current adoptable dogs and cats online. We welcome visitors to our Adoption Center in Point Richmond, so please feel free to stop by and meet your new best friend. If you aren't ready to adopt, consider joining our mission as a volunteer or foster parent—every action makes a lasting difference.
