Our Mission
Give Me Shelter Cat Rescue is dedicated to saving the lives of adult and senior cats by providing them with the medical care, behavioral support, and unconditional love they deserve while they await their forever homes.
Who We Are
Founded in 2003 by Lana Bajsel, we have grown to become San Francisco's largest cat rescue organization. Our journey began when our founder noticed that older, wonderful cats in local shelters were often overlooked, and she felt compelled to fill that void by ensuring these deserving animals receive a second chance.
How We Help
We are a small, passionate group of volunteers who operate primarily through a foster-based network. By placing our rescues into loving foster homes, we can provide a safe haven where cats stay comfortable and relaxed while we carefully prepare them for life with their new families.
Your Adoption Journey
We believe that adopting a cat is a joyful partnership, which is why we prioritize thoughtful matching to ensure each feline finds the perfect home environment. Our process includes initial video meetings, which allow potential adopters to see a cat's true personality, followed by an in-person meeting once an application is approved.
