Muttville is a pioneering senior dog rescue dedicated to changing the way the world thinks about and treats older dogs. We believe that it is never too late for a new beginning for these wonderful companions.
Founded by Sherri Franklin in 2007, Muttville began in her own home to provide a safety net for senior dogs at risk. We address a critical community need, stepping in to ensure that dogs—who are often overlooked simply due to their age or minor medical needs—receive the care and love they deserve.
Muttville is proud to be the country's first cage-free facility, offering a colorful and comfortable environment that serves as a paradise for our dogs. Beyond our headquarters, we utilize a robust foster network, allowing many of our mutts to live in loving homes while they wait to meet their forever families.
Adopting a senior dog is a deeply rewarding partnership that celebrates the love these older animals have to give. We prioritize thoughtful matching, working closely with you to understand your lifestyle, while providing ongoing support and advice for the life of your new friend. Whether you are browsing our site or meeting our mutts in person, we are here to make your journey to finding a new best friend a seamless and joyful experience.
Our mutts are ready to meet you! We invite you to visit our campus at 750 Florida Street in San Francisco, Tuesday through Sunday, from 11am to 4pm, or explore our current list of available companions online. Every adoption helps us continue our mission of saving older dogs and ensuring they spend their golden years surrounded by love.
