Our Mission
Promise 4 Paws is a Southern California-based 501c3 rescue dedicated to saving homeless animals, providing them with the highest standards of veterinary care, and finding them permanent, loving homes. We are rooted in compassion, responsibility, and the core belief that every animal deserves a second chance at a happy life.
Our Story
Founded in 2018 by a small group with a big mission, we have grown into a 100% volunteer-run organization. Since our humble beginnings, we have expanded our reach significantly, even launching a transport program in 2023 to connect at-risk animals from overcrowded local shelters with loving homes in British Columbia.
How We Help
We operate as a foster-based rescue, placing our animals in nurturing homes while they await their forever families. Thanks to our community, we utilize a custom transport van and a 40-foot Red Bus to ensure every mile traveled is a step closer to hope and healing. By relying on a dedicated network of volunteers, we provide the love and care these animals need until the perfect match is found.

Our team takes the time to carefully evaluate temperament, energy, and personality to create lasting bonds built on love and trust. 10/12 - 6 of our bull terrier mix pups are still looking for their forever homes! 🐾 (We also need fosters!) At 11 weeks old and 11-13 lbs, these six littermates are growing fast and ready to find their people! Mama is a 47 lb bull terrier mix, giving a good idea of the sweet, mid-sized pups these little ones will grow into. 🐾 LANEY — sassy and playful, loves her toys, but just as happy to curl up for down time. Independent spirit who melts for tummy rubs. 🐾 BLAZE — such a sweetheart! Loves being close to his people, playful and curious, and isn't shy about asking for attention. 🐾 KANE — the ultimate cuddle bug, always happiest sitting right at your feet. Attentive, affectionate, and eager to please. 🐾 PEBBLES — quick to learn and eager to please, this girl comes running every time you call her name. 🐾 RIVER — a true velcro pup with a perfectly balanced temperament, playful when it's time for fun, calm and cuddly the rest of the time. 🐾 RAINE — sweet, affectionate, and always ready for lap time. 10/6 - ❤️🩹 FREEDOM x2 — SCOOBY & COCO ARE SAFE ❤️🩹 Two more beautiful lives made it out of Downey 🥹🐾 Scooby A5798400 is only about a year old. After being surrendered by his owner, he suddenly found himself sitting in an overcrowded shelter, wondering where his family had gone. Despite being described as friendly, easy to handle and eager for human attention, Scooby ended up at risk simply because the shelter needed space. And then there’s beautiful Coco A5799841 ❤️ Another life behind kennel doors but today we don’t have to worry about either of them anymore. Scooby is SAFE. Coco is SAFE. 10/5 - 🩷 FREEDOM FOR ELISE — A5798453 🩷 📍 Palmdale Animal Care Center Elise made it out but, sadly, today, we learned just how close she came to never getting that chance. Elise is the only survivor from her kennel. Her five kennel mates were killed last Friday despite several having fosters lined up and one reportedly having rescue interest. Elise is just a baby, estimated to be only about 4–6 months old. She left the shelter absolutely terrified. She was so frightened that being placed on a leash could cause her to have an accident. She was even sick during the car ride out. 💔 She’s slowly coming out of her shell, beginning to trust other dogs and showing more of that sweet little personality every day. 10/5 - 🐾 IT ALL STARTED WITH ONE… ❤️ Sometimes saving one dog turns into saving three. It started with Raya A5795785 from Palmdale (see her in our other post 💕) An adopter stepped up to save her but while waiting for her forever home, Raya’s temporary foster fell in love and foster failed ❤️ So her adopter said, essentially, “Okay… who’s next?” Next came Chikorita A5753945 and unbelievably, it happened again. Her temporary foster fell in love too, and Chikorita had found her forever home 🥹 Instead of walking away, this adopter chose another dog who needed him and that dog was Milo A5722004💙 One adopter’s commitment created a ripple effect that helped THREE Palmdale dogs make it out alive. This is what rescue looks like: fosters, adopters, volunteers and advocates all saying YES when a dog needs them. 10/3 - How is it possible that a girl this sweet is still waiting? 💔➡️❤️ Look at that gentle smile and those soulful eyes! BROWNIE gets so much love at our adoption events, but somehow the right application hasn’t come through yet. Not long ago, BROWNIE was terrified, on the shelter’s euthanasia list. Thanks to foster care, this resilient 2-year-old Doberman mix has completely blossomed into a gentle, devoted soul. 9/30 - 🎉 WE GOT YOU WEDNESDAY: CHEESER IS FREE!🎉 🆔 A2294253 The big-eared, big-eyed 6 year old Chihuahua who found himself at the South LA shelter has been pulled and is officially out of that kennel! 🐾💕 Poor Cheeser was scared when he first left the shelter, but it didn't take him long to realize he was out. Watching him go from wide-eyed and unsure to soaking up his freedom was everything. 🥹 No more cold steel walls. Cheeser is safe, and his next chapter starts now. 9/30 - This past weekend, we had an amazing September transport run, helping carry more than 100 of California’s most vulnerable animals away from overcrowded shelters and toward the lives they deserved all along ❤️ Kim with @the_rescue_state got to drive the sprinter van alongside Kevin, our co-owner, while Jeff, Trevor, and Nick took on the road in the big red classic school bus packed with some very precious passengers 🐶🐱 There is something incredibly powerful about watching animal after animal get loaded up, knowing that on the other end of that drive is a foster or adopter waiting for them. 9/28 - ✨FREEDOM for Twiggy STORM #27-02625 from SEAACA shelter ✨ When it came down to ⏳LAST CALL a miracle ✨ can happen with teamwork & everything is better with 2 RESCUES working together with minutes left to save sweet, adoptable, misunderstood Storm! ⭐️ BIG THANK YOU to @promise4pawsrescue @gaia_is_my_basis & the angel who believed in Storm before us all @sailorrrsarah ~ without your voice & the incredible work you do so many special pups like Storm don’t have a chance! Storm has been ALL kisses 😘 & paws 🐾 since the moment she left the Shelter! She is one of the sweetest, tiniest Shepherds we’ve seen & deserves the best after all she’s been through. We love saving kittens 🐱 …And watch to the very end to see our sweet pup, Dumpling 🥟🐶 Today we’re celebrating some very special little lives who made it safely out of the San Jacinto Animal Shelter. 🐾 Dumpling — A1936257, a Queensland Heeler 🐱 And a whole group of tiny kittens who now get the chance to grow up somewhere safe. They are small, vulnerable and often require more hands-on care than a busy shelter environment can provide. 9/24 - 🕊️ FREEDOM FOR PRETTY GIRL 🐾❤️ Pretty Girl A5800577 entered the Lancaster Animal Shelter as an owner surrender. Her previous family said they had found her about two months earlier, but she was very thin and they were unable to get her to gain weight. Ultimately, they decided they could no longer care for her and surrendered her to the shelter. For dogs entering an already high-intake shelter, an owner surrender can be especially dangerous. Unlike stray dogs, who generally must be held for a required period to give an owner the opportunity to reclaim them, owner-surrendered dogs may not have that same waiting period before becoming eligible for placement or depending on the shelter’s circumstances, euthanasia. When kennels are full, that can mean precious time is even shorter. Pretty Girl deserved the chance for someone to look beyond how thin she was and say, “You’re worth saving.” Thank you much @lancasteranimalslaco & @barneysfurryfriends for helping get this beautiful & precious girl seen 💕 you’re true life savers! ✨ PRETTY GIRL IS SAFE! ✨ She is now out of the shelter and in a foster home where she can decompress, be cared for, gain some much-needed weight and finally know what it feels like to be safe & loved.
