Santa Barbara Humane - Santa Barbara
Our Mission
Santa Barbara Humane serves as a dedicated champion for animals and the people who love them, working to create a happy, healthy community for all. We provide a vital safety net for pets in need, ensuring every animal receives the care, compassion, and second chance they deserve.
Our History and Community Impact
Founded in 1887, we are proud to be one of the first animal welfare agencies in the country. Today, we continue that legacy of innovation by providing essential, low-cost veterinary care, professional dog training, and comprehensive adoption services at our campuses in Santa Barbara and Santa Maria.
Our Care Model
As an independent nonprofit, we are committed to Socially Conscious Sheltering, a transparent and thoughtful approach that prioritizes the best outcomes for every animal in our care. Our campuses provide a welcoming environment where potential adopters can meet our dogs and cats, supported by our dedicated staff and volunteers who work tirelessly to keep our animals comfortable and happy during their stay.
Finding Your Perfect Companion
Adoption is a joyful partnership, and we are here to help you find the pet that best fits your lifestyle and family. When you visit our adoption centers, our friendly counselors are ready to introduce you to our available animals, ensuring a thoughtful match that benefits both you and your new furry friend.
Join Our Community
Ready to meet your new family member? We invite you to explore our available dogs and cats online or visit us at our Santa Barbara or Santa Maria campuses to begin your journey. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of the animals who need us most.
