The Canine Adoption and Rescue League (CARL) is dedicated to advocating for animal welfare, striving to end the needless loss of companion animals through our active adoption, education, and outreach programs.
Since 1996, we have served as a non-profit, all-breed, no-kill rescue organization based in Ventura County, California. Over the years, we have successfully rescued and placed thousands of abandoned, sick, and homeless dogs into the loving, secure, and permanent homes they deserve.
CARL operates as a mission-driven organization relying entirely on community donations rather than government funding. We take a lifelong commitment to every dog in our program, utilizing both our sanctuary facilities and a dedicated network of foster homes to provide comfort and care until the perfect match is found.
We believe that successful adoption is a partnership built on thoughtful, careful matching. Because we maintain a lifelong promise to our rescues, we prioritize local placements to ensure we can always be there for our dogs if they need us. Our dedicated volunteers work closely with every applicant to ensure that each transition into a new family is safe, happy, and built to last.
