Foothill Dog Rescue of the Sierras is a non-profit, all-volunteer organization dedicated to giving dogs a new leash on life. We are driven by the belief that every dog deserves a safe, loving forever home regardless of their past circumstances.
Founded in March 2013, our organization was created to make a meaningful difference for dogs in high-kill shelters and those surrendered by owners who can no longer care for them. To date, we have proudly saved over 5,000 dogs by placing them in nurturing environments where they can thrive. We also actively support underserved areas through spay, neuter, and vaccination clinics to help reduce the number of unwanted dogs in our community.
We operate as an all-volunteer, foster-based rescue with no paid staff and no overnight boarding facility. By placing dogs in our network of 150-180 dedicated foster homes, we provide the personal care and socialization each animal needs. We fully support our fosters by providing all necessary food, crates, toys, and comprehensive medical care, including spay/neuter services, vaccinations, and microchipping.
We strive to get to know each individual dog to determine their unique personality and needs, ensuring we find the perfect fit for your lifestyle. We facilitate this through a thoughtful, pre-screened adoption process and private meet and greets. Our team is committed to transparency and helping you find a companion that will bring joy to your family for years to come.
Whether you are looking to adopt, volunteer, or support our cause through a donation, you are an essential part of our success. We invite you to explore our available dogs online or visit us at one of our Saturday adoption events in Shingle Springs to meet your future best friend.
