Friends of the Animal Community (FOAC) is a non-profit organization dedicated to meeting the medical and social needs of adoptable pets, providing every animal we touch the path to a loving forever home. We believe in giving animals another chance for a better life through compassion, care, and community support.
Established in 2001, FOAC was formed to relieve overcrowding at Tuolumne County Animal Control and ensure every pet has a future. Over the past two decades, we have evolved from a small local group into a pillar of support for pets and their people throughout the region. We are honored to provide a vital bridge for homeless animals and assistance to families navigating difficult life transitions.
At the heart of FOAC are our dedicated foster families, who provide a warm, transitional home environment while pets await their forever families. While we operate a small facility in Sonora for a limited number of animals, our foster network allows us to provide individualized care, socialization, and love. By keeping our overhead costs to a minimum, we ensure that every contribution goes directly toward the health and wellbeing of our animals.
We are committed to making thoughtful, successful matches between our rescued pets and their new families. Whether you are looking for a playful kitten, a loyal adult dog, or a gentle senior, our team is here to support you through the adoption process. We pride ourselves on modeling positive pet-human relationships that last a lifetime.
Are you ready to find your perfect companion? We invite you to view our adoptable animals online or visit our center in Sonora to meet our wonderful residents. Together, we can continue to create happy endings and fill our community with the joy of rescue pets.
