Hollywood Huskies
Our Mission
Hollywood Huskies is dedicated to rescuing Siberian huskies and husky mixes in Southern California, helping them transition from shelter environments into loving forever homes.
The Story Behind Our Pack
Founded by Heather Schmidt in 2016, our organization was born from a personal journey of recovery and a deep passion for the breed. Inspired by her own husky’s resilience, Heather utilized the opportunity from her work on the television series Life at Vet U to establish this 501(c)3 non-profit to serve the greater Los Angeles area.
Our Care Model
We operate as a foster-based rescue, meaning we do not have a physical shelter facility. Instead, our dogs live in temporary boarding, with trainers, or in loving foster homes, which allows us to provide individualized attention, medical care, and necessary training to prepare each dog for their next chapter.
Building Lifelong Bonds
We believe every homeless husky deserves to be a star in a loving home. To ensure the best possible start for both our dogs and their new families, we provide husky-savvy resources and education to help potential adopters fully understand and cherish the unique qualities of this incredible breed.
