Golden Years Dog Sanctuary

Golden Years Dog Sanctuary

Our Mission

Golden Years Dog Sanctuary is a dedicated 501(c)(3) nonprofit committed to rescuing senior and at-risk dogs and cats from shelters to give them the best of the rest of their lives. We believe that every animal deserves a second chance, regardless of their age or history.

Our History

Established in July 2018, our sanctuary is nestled at Goldspirit Farm in the beautiful Kagel Canyon area of Sylmar, California. Founded by Susan Friend LeTourneur, the sanctuary grew from a long-held dream to make a tangible difference for animals after years of witnessing local shelter needs and individual rescue efforts.

Our Care Model

We provide a warm, doggy heaven at our sanctuary, featuring a half-acre run, climate-controlled accommodations, and expansive space for our residents to roam. While our physical space allows us to house many seniors, our foster network is equally vital, allowing us to save even more lives by providing quiet, loving home environments for kittens and seniors alike.

The Joy of Adoption

Senior animals often make the most grateful and loving companions, embracing their new lives with resilience and joy. We believe in thoughtful, intentional matching to ensure every adoption is a lifelong partnership built on unconditional love. Our team is here to support you throughout the process, ensuring you feel confident in welcoming a new best friend into your home.

10/6 - These two dogs need a home asap!! This is Rufus,#A012935, now Compass and Lotta, #a012936, now Calibrate from the arc shelter of the inland empire are safe. These two are bonded, and would be lost without eachother, hence the names! We didn't even hear about them until an hour before their deadline. We reached out to the shelter and asked for more time. We knew we could at least get a temporary foster. The difficulty was transportation. We also had to apply to become an adoption partner. We completed that before we found transportation. We did find transportation and rescued them today. These two are in a temporary foster home and we do need to get a forever home asap! Share and help us get Compass and Calibrate into a forever home. 10/5 - Someone adopt this dog! We rescued captivating in March and she's been in boarding since then. It's a great boarding facility and she gets to go outside, but she has to be the only dog, which means she can't socialize with the other dogs, and it's not the best situation for her. She needs a home of her own. She's incredibly sweet. She's healthy, you can take her on a two-week golden getaway to try her in your home! Even after she is afopted, we're willing to help with any medical that might come up with her eye, even though we know nothing is going to happen. Call or email Susan with any questions. 818.636.1522 Goldenyearsdogsanctuary@yahoo.com We can't do this without your help. Foster, volunteer, donate and/or share our posts.
