The Yucaipa Valley Animal Placement Society (YAPS) is a no-kill, nonprofit animal rescue dedicated to providing a safe haven for dogs and cats while they wait for their forever homes. Every act of kindness helps us give these vulnerable animals the care and second chances they deserve.
Our journey began in 1957 when founder Betty Martines rescued a stray dog in Yucaipa, sparking a vision for a no-kill shelter. Decades later, we continue to carry forward that same lifesaving spirit, turning thousands of stories of uncertainty into happy endings.
We provide a temporary home for animals in need at our Yucaipa facility, focusing on health, wellness, and dignity. Our dedicated team of staff and volunteers works tirelessly to ensure every animal is prepared for their next chapter through compassionate care, veterinary coordination, and social enrichment.
We believe that adopting a pet is a serious, life-long commitment that brings immense joy to both the animal and the family. Our process is designed to be professional and supportive, ensuring that every match is made with care, respect, and a deep understanding of the individual needs of our rescues.
Whether you are looking to adopt your new best friend, volunteer your time, or support our work through donations, there are many ways to get involved. We invite you to view our available pets online or visit us in Yucaipa to start your own story of companionship.
