Humane Colorado, Buddy Center - Castle Rock

Our Mission

Working with our compassionate community, we are dedicated to ending pet homelessness and animal suffering. We believe in building a future where every animal is cherished and every pet owner has the resources they need to thrive.

A Legacy of Compassion

With over 115 years of experience in animal welfare, we have evolved from our roots as the Dumb Friends League into Humane Colorado. This journey reflects our ongoing commitment to serving Colorado’s animals and the people who love them with innovation, leadership, and unwavering care.

How We Care for Animals

We are a socially conscious shelter that assesses the health and behavior of every animal in our care to ensure the best possible outcomes. Animals at our shelters receive necessary medical treatment, behavior evaluations, and plenty of enrichment as they wait for their new families. Our commitment to high-quality care is made possible by our dedicated team and our supportive community partners.

Your Partnership in Adoption

Bringing home a companion animal is an exciting, life-changing journey. Our knowledgeable adoption counselors are here to help you find the perfect match for your lifestyle and family, ensuring a positive experience for both you and your new pet. We encourage all family members to participate in meet-and-greets, helping to foster a strong, loving bond from day one.

Start Your Next Adventure

Your new best friend is waiting to meet you! We invite you to browse our current list of adoptable dogs, cats, equines, and small pets on our website. When you are ready, please visit one of our shelter locations—including the Buddy Center—to join our queue and begin the paws-on adoption process today.

11/2 - Today, we remember the ones who may no longer be by our side, but will always have a place in our hearts. ❤️🐾 The love we share with our pets leaves a mark that time can’t erase. Our Tagged with Love Fence is a special place to celebrate those connections, honor cherished memories, and recognize the animals who have made our lives better. For a one-time $50 donation, you can choose a tag shape and add a personal message in honor of a beloved pet, family member, friend, or colleague. We’ll inscribe your message and find its place along the installation. Your tribute becomes part of something meaningful while helping provide care for animals currently in our shelters. Because every love story deserves to be remembered. Learn more about the Tagged with Love Fence at the link in our bio.

10/28 - Lilith had a day out, made some human friends, explored the world, and reminded everyone why she’s so easy to fall for. 🖤 Just under 2 years old, Lilith is a sweet, fun-loving adventurer with a smart mind and an eagerness to learn. She loves meeting people and trying new things. Making canine friends takes her a little longer, so if there’s already a dog at home, bring them along for a visit! Lilith is looking for a family with kids ages 10 and up and a lifetime of adventures ahead. She did great on her day trip. Now she just needs someone to take her on all the adventures still to come. Meet Lilith at our Leslie A. Malone Center.
