At PAWS for Life, our mission is to provide care for lost or unwanted animals, ensuring they find loving homes or are reunited with their owners. We are dedicated to educating the public about the intelligent and humane treatment of all companion animals.
Founded in 1978 by a compassionate group of eight individuals, PAWS for Life has grown from a humble foster-based system into a dedicated no-kill shelter. Established as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in 1981, we have spent decades evolving to meet the needs of Pueblo’s animals, including the opening of our state-of-the-art, LEED Platinum-certified facility in 2011.
We believe every animal deserves a high standard of care while they wait for their forever family. Our facility provides essential medical attention, including spay/neuter services, vaccinations, and microchipping, alongside enrichment like socialized pack walks and playtime in our yards. By relying entirely on community donations, we are able to sustain this commitment to every animal that enters our doors.
Adoption is a joyful partnership, and we are here to help you find the perfect match for your home and lifestyle. Our adoption process is designed to set both you and your new pet up for long-term success through thoughtful counseling and careful matching. Whether you are looking for a playful companion or a calm, loyal friend, our team is dedicated to supporting this transition.
We invite you to discover the wonderful animals currently waiting to meet their new families by visiting our adoptable pets page. You can also support our work by becoming a donor, volunteering your time, or attending our upcoming events. We look forward to helping you find your new best friend.
