The Danbury Animal Welfare Society (DAWS) is a dedicated non-profit organization committed to improving the lives of animals in our community and beyond. We strive to create a world where every companion animal is safe, happy, and cherished.
Since our founding in 1974, DAWS has been a pillar of compassion for homeless pets. What began as a grassroots effort by volunteers to support animals at the local pound has grown into a robust, community-focused organization providing rescue, rehabilitation, and adoption services from our dedicated facility in Bethel, Connecticut.
We believe in providing the highest standard of care through a blend of shelter-based support and an active, vital network of foster families. Our on-site clinic allows us to perform essential medical care and sterilization procedures, ensuring every dog and cat is healthy and ready for their next chapter. By combining these resources, we are able to facilitate over 700 successful adoptions every year.
Choosing a new family member is a beautiful journey, and we are here to support you every step of the way. Our team focuses on thoughtful, responsible pet guardianship, providing the counseling and resources you need to build a lifelong bond with your new friend. We are proud to be the regional leader in placing dogs and cats into qualified, loving adoptive homes.
You have the power to make a lasting difference in the lives of animals in need. We invite you to view our adorable, adoptable animals online or visit us at our Bethel facility to find your next furry companion. Whether you choose to adopt, volunteer, or support our programs, you are an essential part of the DAWS family.
