New Fairfield Sherman Animal Welfare Society
Our Mission
The New Fairfield Sherman Animal Welfare Society, Inc. provides compassionate care for adoptable animals and works to connect them with loving, permanent families. We are dedicated to creating a more humane world where animals and people thrive together.
Our History
Established in 1977, we began as a foster-based organization focused on spay/neuter initiatives and humane education. In 1991, we reached a major milestone by building our own dedicated shelter facility to better serve the stray animal population in New Fairfield and Sherman.
How We Care
As a 501(c)3 non-profit that receives no government funding, our operations are powered entirely by our community’s generosity. We operate a shelter facility that serves as a safe haven while we provide medical care, behavioral training, and daily enrichment. Our commitment to our residents is rooted in integrity, ensuring every animal receives the quality of life they deserve until they find their perfect match.
Your Adoption Journey
Choosing to adopt is a life-changing experience that brings immense joy to both you and your new companion. We believe in thoughtful, positive matchmaking and are here to guide you through the process, ensuring you find the right pet to complement your lifestyle. Whether you are looking for a best friend for your home or interested in our specialized programs like Senior to Senior or Pets for Patriots, we are here to support you.
