Humane Society of the Nature Coast

Our Mission

The Humane Society of the Nature Coast is dedicated to providing a safe haven, resources, and love for animals in need while promoting pet welfare and sterilization to achieve a no-kill society. We are here to connect animals with caring families and ensure every pet has the chance to thrive.

Our Story

Since our founding in 1964, we have remained committed to rescuing orphaned, surrendered, and abandoned pets in our community. We believe that every animal deserves a loving home, and we serve as a reliable resource for those who need us most.

How We Care

Our shelter provides a nurturing, safe environment where animals receive consistent care, food, and medical attention until they are ready for their forever homes. Because we are a no-kill society with no time limits on how long pets stay with us, we focus on providing a high level of care for every individual animal, including vaccinations, microchipping, and spay/neuter services.

Your Partner in Adoption

We view adoption as the start of a lifelong partnership, which is why we prioritize thoughtful, personalized matching. Through our interview process, we take the time to learn about your home environment to ensure every pet finds a compatible, lifelong companion. We are here to support you throughout the transition, offering a 6-week adjustment period to ensure both you and your new pet feel safe and confident in your new life together.
