Helping pets and people live happier, healthier lives filled with love, together. Because pets need people and people need pets, we provide sheltering to the most vulnerable animals, affordable prevention services, and ongoing support for those who cherish them.
A History of Care
Founded in 1971, Suncoast Humane Society has served as a cornerstone of animal welfare in Florida for over 50 years. We have grown into a regional resource that collaborates with shelters and rescues across 24 Florida counties and beyond, working tirelessly to provide safety and a second chance to animals in need.
Our Approach
We believe in a community-focused model that combines high-quality sheltering with accessible preventative care through our Milne Veterinary Clinic. Our operations rely on a dedicated network of volunteers and foster families who provide love and temporary homes, helping our pets thrive until they find their perfect match.

9/27 - Wait... capybaras BARK? 😂🔊 They sure do! Jane and Betty are showing off one of the many sounds capybaras use to communicate. A bark can mean different things depending on what’s happening around them, including excitement, getting someone’s attention, or alerting the rest of the group that something has caught their interest.
