Our Mission
Abandoned Pet Rescue is dedicated to our mission of rescuing, healing, and rehoming abandoned and neglected cats and dogs, while advocating for animal welfare in our community. We believe in providing every animal with a safe, nurturing environment until they find their forever family.
Our Story
Founded in 1996, our journey began when a small group of passionate volunteers united to trap, spay, and neuter community cats. Recognizing a greater need to support abandoned pets in South Florida, we have grown into one of the region's largest no-kill shelters, having helped over 10,000 pets find loving homes.
How We Care
As a 501(c)(3) non-profit, we operate a welcoming facility where pets receive comprehensive care 365 days a year. Our cats enjoy free-roaming rooms with access to an outdoor catio, while our dogs stay in air-conditioned kennels with their own outdoor play area. Our on-site veterinary clinic ensures every animal receives the medical attention, vaccinations, and rehabilitation they need to thrive.

Beetle Juice is happiest when he’s getting love and affection, and he’ll quickly melt your heart with his sweet personality and charming little meows. 🐈⬛ 12 years old Stalker is a sweet senior black cat who has been patiently waiting for his forever home. Stalker is full of love and personality, always the first in the Felix room to meow at you until you come over to give him pets. 10/7 - PLEASE help us share Milo, who really needs a foster with a quiet environment or an adopter where he can relax. ❤️🩹 He did previously live with 5 cats, and he’s been good with dogs his own size he’s met. We are looking for a quiet, calm home for him in the meantime. Ideally a home over an apartment would be best. Milo is a 5-year-old, 70-pound cuddle bug! ❤️ He is really well behaved in the home, he’s mellow, he loves chasing lizards if you have a fenced yard, otherwise he really loves going for walks. He’s also a big fan of car rides and would happily be your co-pilot for every adventure. 🚗🐶 All supplies will be provided by Abandoned Pet Rescue. Milo does have a condition called Masticatory Muscle Myositis (MMM). In simple terms, it’s an immune-system condition. With proper veterinary care and management, dogs with MMM can still enjoy happy, loving lives. Milo is so much more than his medical diagnosis. He is a sweet boy who has a lot of affection to offer his forever family for many more years to come. Milo qualifies for Abandoned Pet Rescue’s Medical Adoption Program, which means his veterinary care will be provided by APR’s clinic for Milo’s life. ❣️ He is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and otherwise a happy, healthy dog. 10/6 - Marina is a beautiful girl with the most incredible markings! Her coat has a unique leopard like pattern with gorgeous orange coloring that makes her truly stand out. 🧡😻✨ She is a very sweet cat who can be a little nervous around sudden movements at first, but once you start petting her, she quickly relaxes and isn’t going anywhere! 😻 Marina loves attention and will flip around onto her back, roll around, and ask for more pets. She has such a sweet and affectionate personality once she feels comfortable. 💕🥰 Marina would do best in a quiet, easygoing home where she can take her time settling in, feel safe, and gain confidence at her own pace.
