10/12 - He’s lost without his family 🙏🥺 For all of his life, 4-year-old Frodo knew the comfort of home and a loving family. Sadly, when a family member developed allergies, they had to make the difficult decision to surrender him 💔 Now, this sweet boy is trying to make sense of a world that looks very different than the one he had to leave 🥺 On top of that, Frodo is being overlooked by adopters because of his anxiety in his kennel 💔 If only they knew that underneath his uncertainty is an absolutely wonderful dog! 🙏 Frodo is getting lots of one-on-one time with our staff and volunteers, and we can tell you that he is friendly, affectionate, and happiest when he’s close to people ❤️ He’ll gladly sit beside you, leaning in for pets and attention ☺️ He knows his name, enjoys treats, and knows basic commands. In his previous home, Frodo was known for being playful, social, and full of personality. We’re told he’s good with adults, children, and other dogs, but a meet and greet here at the shelter is always recommended. He loves playing with balls and could happily spend hours chasing and fetching his favorite toys ❤️ This energetic boy also enjoys letting loose with joyful zoomies. And if there’s water involved, even better! Frodo loves swimming, splashing through sprinklers, and enjoying any opportunity to cool off and have fun ❤️ Frodo is very food and toy motivated, and loves chewing and playing with Nylabones. He also readily allows leashing and handling for walks. Frodo is looking to find his way back to a loving home 🥹 Could that home be yours? 🙏 Thanks to a friend, Frodo’s adoption fee has been paid ❤️ If you cannot adopt, please share for Frodo 🙏 And if you live locally, please consider fostering! The link for foster information is in our bio. To meet Frodo, please complete the pre-adoption application online (link in bio) and stop by the Humane Society of Broward County at 2070 Griffin Road, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33312. We are open daily at 11 a.m. If you have any questions, call 954-989-3977.

10/11 - He was so stressed 🥺💔 Myko may look like a big strong boy, but underneath is a sensitive soul that just wants to feel safe ❤️‍🩹 At just 2 years old, Myko lost his home and family through no fault of his own when his family had to move 😔 Now he’s been waiting since JUNE for someone to give him another chance 🙏🥺 Because of this, Myko is showing signs of anxiety and confusion about where he belongs 💔 But once he gets some quiet one-on-one time, you meet a completely different dog. Myko is sweet, affectionate, playful and LOVES being with people. He has lived with children as young as one, loves toys and treats, and already knows sit, stay and down. He is incredibly food motivated and LOVES getting treats, which has also made him a great student as we work on building his confidence and focus ❤️ Myko has done well with other dogs, although he can get worked up seeing them through the kennel, and he would prefer a home without cats. He loves to run and play, but after everything he has been through, new situations can sometimes make him nervous. What this boy really needs is a patient family willing to give him the security and consistency he lost when his family lost their home ❤️‍🩹 Four months is a long time to watch other dogs walk out those doors while you’re still waiting. We would LOVE for October to be Myko’s lucky month 🙏🧡 If you cannot adopt, please share for this sweet, loving boy 🙏 His new family is out there somewhere… Thank you to @hsbcvolunteers for giving Myko a day out the way he needed it and at his own pace ❤️ To meet a pet, please complete the pre-adoption application online (link in bio) and stop by the Humane Society of Broward County at 2070 Griffin Road, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33312. 10/10 - Oh sweet girl 🥺 She’s already been through more than any puppy should have to 💔 Nila was adopted from our shelter just a few months ago, but through no fault of her own, found herself back here when her family realized they didn’t have time for a puppy 😔 Now this sweet girl is hoping her next home will be a forever home 🙏 When you meet Nila, you’ll discover a gentle soul who wants nothing more than to be close to her people. She enjoys outings and she walks well on a leash, but what she truly loves is one-on-one affection, soft pets, and quiet moments together. She has a playful side too, occasionally surprising you with a burst of energy and a run when the mood strikes. She’s affectionate, gives the sweetest kisses, and gets along well with people and other dogs ❤️ Nila is still very much a puppy, learning her manners, practicing basic commands, and working on potty training. The good news? She’s incredibly treat-motivated and eager to learn. She loves all toys, but crinkly toys and teething toys are her favorites ☺️ Nila may be a little shy at first, but beneath that uncertainty is a loving puppy with a heart full of trust and hope. She’s already had to say goodbye twice. Now she’s looking for the family who will show her that “forever” really means forever ❤️🙏 If you cannot adopt, please share for this gentle, loving girl 🙏 Her new family is out there somewhere… To meet a pet, please complete the pre-adoption application online (link in bio) and stop by the Humane Society of Broward County at 2070 Griffin Road, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33312. 10/10 - Will you notice Tootsie? 🙏🥺 At just 2 years old, Tootsie is a small bundle of joy who brings happiness wherever she goes! ❤️ Sadly this wonderful girl has been overlooked for months by potential adopters 🥺 So we decided to bring her to our local news station @local10news with the hopes of finding a loving forever family 🙏 Our @Purina pet of the week is incredibly friendly and social, enjoys being petted, and happily accepts handling. She knows “sit,” takes treats gently, walks nicely on a leash, and even appears to be housebroken. Tootsie loves toys, interactive play, and spending time with people. She has an active, playful spirit but pairs it with a gentle and affectionate nature that makes her a delight to be around ♥️ Will you give her the loving home she’s dreaming of? If you cannot adopt, please share for this gentle, loving girl 🙏 Her new family is out there somewhere… To meet a pet, please complete the pre-adoption application online (link in bio) and stop by the Humane Society of Broward County at 2070 Griffin Road, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33312. 10/8 - They lost the only home they had ever known. Now, the only thing Tiger and Lily have left that feels like home is each other. 🥺💔 Tiger and Lily are 3 year old siblings who came to our shelter together after allergies in their family meant they could no longer stay in the home they had always known. For almost 50 days now, they have been trying to understand why everything they knew suddenly disappeared. 💔 When they first arrived, they were so terrified they would hide piled on top of each other, almost as if they were protecting one another. When one is scared, the other is there. 🥺 Lily often hides underneath her blanket and Tiger in the corner. But with patience, lots of love and plenty of treats, they are slowly starting to show us who they really are. Tiger now seeks out pets and nudges our hands for more, while Lily has started coming out for gentle love. ❤️‍🩹 These sweet siblings need a quiet, patient home without children where they can finally decompress and feel safe again. Most importantly, after losing everything else familiar to them, we desperately want them to stay together. 🙏 Half of their adoption fee has already been covered. Please share Tiger and Lily and help us find the special person willing to give two scared little cats the second chance they deserve. They already lost their home. We cannot bear the thought of them losing each other too. ❤️ To meet Tiger and Lily, please complete the pre adoption application through the link in our bio and visit the Humane Society of Broward County at 2070 Griffin Road in Fort Lauderdale. We open daily at 11 a.m. Questions? Call 954 989 3977

10/8 - Sadly, after almost three months of waiting, it was Scooby’s turn to help us open the shelter this morning 🥺💔 Every morning we open our doors hoping it will be the day one of our longtime dogs finally gets to walk out with a family. Today, Scooby got to help us unlock those doors himself, and we are hoping someone watching will finally give this big baby a chance! 🙏 Scooby is just over a year old and has been waiting for months at no fault of his own. He may be 60 pounds, but he is convinced he belongs in your lap! 😂❤️ This giant love bug wants nothing more than to be close to you, lean his whole body into you for affection and cover you in kisses. He can be shy and nervous around loud noises, but once he feels comfortable, he is such a sweetheart with so much love to give! Scooby is still a puppy in a big dog body and needs a family willing to help him work on his manners. He gets very excited and can jump quite high, so an adult home or one with much older children would be best. He knows sit, takes treats gently, rides well in the car and recently had a successful dog meet with another active dog! 🥰 It breaks our hearts that this sweet boy is spending his puppyhood growing up in a kennel. He has so much potential and just needs someone willing to give him the patience, love and consistency he deserves. ❤️ Scooby’s adoption fee has already been paid, and he will even go home with a special gift basket! Please share and help us find this misunderstood big baby a family of his own. 🙏 To meet Scooby, complete the pre adoption application through the link in our bio and visit the Humane Society of Broward County at 2070 Griffin Road in Fort Lauderdale. 10/7 - FENDI HAS BEEN ADOPTED!!! 🥹❤️ Our biggest dog who spent her days trying to make herself small enough to disappear has found her forever family, and she even got a built-in best friend to help show her that the world is not such a scary place after all. ❤️‍🩹 When Fendi was in her kennel, she would curl herself into the very back corner with her tail tucked tightly underneath her. 😔 At 70 pounds, she tried so hard to take up as little space as possible. The barking, the noise and the unfamiliar surroundings were completely overwhelming for this sensitive girl, and every day we just wished we could explain to her that she was safe. 💔 Then her perfect family came along just in time. 🙏 ❤️ And as if finding the perfect humans was not enough, Fendi also got a new brother named Django who looks SO much like her that we can hardly believe it! 😭🥰 But even better than their matching good looks is what Django is already doing for his new sister. He is helping Fendi come out of her shell, showing her how to be brave and giving her the confidence to finally relax and just be a dog again! 🥰 Just LOOK at her now!!! ❤️ You can already see a completely different dog than the frightened girl hiding in the back of her kennel. We know she will spend the rest of her days exploring, staying close to her new brother and slowly realizing that she does not have to make herself small anymore. This is the girl we all knew was in there. 🥹💗 Thank you to every single person who shared Fendi’s story, commented, tagged a friend or helped her sweet face reach the family who needed to see it. Sometimes one share really does change an animal’s entire life.🙏 Happy tails, Fendi!!! 🥹 Go take up ALL the space you want, sweet girl. You are finally home. 🏡🐾 Fendi may be heading home, but there are still so many wonderful dogs and cats waiting at the Humane Society of Broward County for their own happy ever after ❤️‍🩹 . If you have been thinking about adding a new best friend to your family, we hope you will come meet them! 🙏 Visit our website to see all of our incredible pets currently available for adoption. Lin

10/7 - Arena is only 1 year old and sadly she is growing up in a kennel. 💔 She has been here for so long that her kennel has become the place where she feels safest. When we try to take her outside, Arena can be nervous and sometimes immediately wants to go back inside. Once she is out, she spends a lot of time cautiously taking in her surroundings and needs a few minutes before she starts to feel comfortable. It is devastating to see such a young dog becoming so accustomed to shelter life. 😔 Arena has been waiting for almost 100 days, and it’s heartbreaking because we know how much potential she has! She is a sweet, gentle 58 pound girl who is friendly, affectionate, walks nicely on a leash and is potty trained. She knows several commands including sit, come and lay down, enjoys toys, takes treats very gently and has been described by shelter staff as a “affectionate” and simply “perfect.” ❤️ This brave girl also JUST completed her heartworm treatment! 🙏 Arena does have a mild limp in her left rear leg due to chronic changes in her knee, possibly from an old injury or early arthritis. She does not need treatment at this time, but keeping her at a healthy weight and using joint supplements will help support her long term joint health. We will even send her home with a bottle of @antinolplus to get her started. Arena should not spend her young life believing a kennel is home. She needs a patient family who will give her time to adjust, help build her confidence and show her how wonderful life outside of the shelter can be. We know there is an amazing dog inside this shy girl just waiting for someone to give her that chance. 🥺🙏 If you would like to meet Arena, please complete a pre-adoption application on our website (link is in bio) and come in to meet this sweetie ❤️ The Humane Society of Broward County is located at 2070 Griffin Road in Fort Lauderdale and is open daily at 11 AM. 10/5 - PUPDATE: Mermaid was adopted!!! 13-year-old Mermaid is our shelter’s oldest dog 🥹❤️ We don’t know what her life looked like before she came to us, but we know what we want for her now: the happiest, most loving golden years possible 🙏 In her kennel, Mermaid is completely shut down, barely lifting her head when visitors pass by 😔 But take her outside and a different dog appears. This lovebug comes alive, burrowing into your arms for affection, exploring every interesting scent, and even getting a little pep in her step when she feels playful 🥹 Mermaid arrived missing more than a dozen teeth and desperately needing dental care, which she has received from our clinic team. ❤️‍🩹 Now Mermaid’s greatest need is simply a home and a patient family who understands that senior dogs deserve a little extra TLC 💛 At 13, Mermaid isn’t asking for much, just comfort, patience, and someone to show her that the best part of her life can still be ahead 🙏 Mermaid’s friends at J.R. Dunn Jewelers have kindly paid her adoption fee. If you would like to give this precious senior a loving home, please fill out a pre-adoption application online (link is in bio) and come to the shelter to meet her. The shelter is located at 2070 Griffin Road, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33312 and opens daily at 11 a.m. If you have any questions, please call 954-989-3977 @jrdunnjewelers

10/4 - Her heart is broken 💔 For five years, sweet Crème had a family, a home, and a person she loved. Then sadly her owner suffered a heart attack and could no longer care for her 😔 Now this gentle giant finds herself alone in a shelter kennel, crying for the family she lost 🥺 Crème is truly a sweetheart. She loves adults and children, gets along with other dogs, and even does well with cats. She once lived happily with another dog and a cat.❤️ Even though she just arrived at our shelter, our staff and volunteers already adore Crème. This well-mannered girl knows her basic commands, loves chew bones more than toys, enjoys car rides, and most of all, loves being with people ❤️ Thunder and loud noises frighten her, so she’ll need someone who will reassure her that she is safe ❤️‍🩹 Crème has already lost the only life she’s ever known. Please don’t let the shelter become the rest of her story. This sweet girl deserves to be someone’s beloved family member again 🙏 If you cannot adopt, please share for her 🥺 To meet a pet, please complete the pre-adoption application online (link in bio) and stop by the Humane Society of Broward County at 2070 Griffin Road, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33312. 10/4 - He’s such a good boy 🥹❤️ Meet Bartholomew, a 1-year-old Staffy/Sharpei mix who had a family of his own, but sadly came to our shelter when they no longer had room for him 😔 Now this fun-loving boy is ready to find a family with plenty of love, playtime, and room for a young dog to enjoy life! 🙏 His former family described him as affectionate, smart, and a great family dog ❤️ He loves people and did wonderfully on his day out of the shelter with our @hsbcvolunteers 😊 We are told he does well children as young as 1 years old, making him a potential family companion. One of the things that makes Bartholomew especially impressive is how much he already knows. He knows “sit,” “down,” “stay,” and “over here,” and he’s eager to learn. His family also told us he did well at the dog park and absolutely loved having a fenced yard where he could run and play. He is reportedly okay with most dogs, but because every dog has their own personality, we recommend a meet-and-greet with any potential canine sibling. If you’re looking for a young, affectionate, intelligent dog who loves to play, Bartholomew could be your guy ☺️ Thanks to a friend, his adoption fee has been paid ❤️ If you cannot adopt, please share for Bartholomew 🙏 To meet a pet, please complete the pre-adoption application online (link in bio) and stop by the Humane Society of Broward County at 2070 Griffin Road, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33312. 10/2 - NEARLY 3,000 MILES FOR LOVE! 😭🇨🇦🤎 Our sweet Mocha has officially made it all the way from Fort Lauderdale, Florida to her forever home in Calgary, Alberta, Canada after her new family fell in love with her ONLINE! 🥹 Just a short time ago, one-year-old Mocha was sitting in her kennel here at the shelter completely overwhelmed. She was surrendered when her owner could no longer care for her, and shelter life was especially difficult for this sensitive girl. She didn’t always show well behind the kennel door, but the second you got her outside, you saw the real Mocha: sweet, affectionate, playful, smart and always ready for belly rubs. ❤️ Thankfully, someone nearly 3,000 miles away saw past that kennel door too. Mocha’s new family found her online, fell in love and decided a few thousand miles and an international border weren’t going to stand between them and their girl. After quite the journey north, Mocha was picked up from pet transport and safely made it home to Calgary! 🇨🇦🐾 Her family already sent us the BEST update: “She is such a sweet girl! Mocha is learning very quickly… Mocha is going to fit in perfectly with our family.” 😭❤️ From a shelter kennel in South Florida to a family waiting for her in Canada. THIS is why every like, comment and share matters. You truly never know who is watching or how far away an animal’s forever family might be. Happy life, Mocha! We think Canada looks pretty good on you. 🇨🇦🤎🐾

10/2 - Bommie is throwing a fit because she is dressed and READY to go 🥹 but apparently no one has told her where the runway is! ❤️‍🩹   This adorable little fashionista is Bommie, a 2-year-old, 50-pound pocket girl who has plenty of personality packed into that little body! Bommie came to us after her family moved without her 💔 and now she is more than ready for her forever home. She is energetic, playful, affectionate and LOVES being around people. 🥰 She will happily chase toys and play fetch, is extremely treat motivated and, once she gets some of that energy out, loves settling down next to you for pets and attention. 💕 She is also bilingual! Bommie can be picky about her dog friends, and because she is a strong, high-energy girl who is still learning how to properly socialize, we recommend scheduling a meeting with your dog at the shelter if you already have one at home. 🙏   And since Bommie is clearly ready for the runway, she would also like to remind everyone that there is only ONE WEEK LEFT to enter our Fashion Forward For PAWS Prize Drawing! 🖤 The Grand Prize is a $5,000 Balmain wardrobe, with even more incredible prizes including a $1,000 Neiman Marcus Boca Raton shopping spree, champagne lunch for six at Mariposa, Alexis Bittar crystal earrings, a Neiman Marcus wine glass set and a $1,000 Bugatchi men’s wardrobe. 🤩 Tickets are 1 for $50 or 3 for $100, and the drawing will take place October 8 at Neiman Marcus Boca Raton. You do not need to be present to win! ❤️   The best part is that every ticket purchased helps support the care of the homeless animals at @humanebroward including little runway-ready girls like Bommie while they wait for families of their own. 🥹❤️‍🩹 Grab your tickets through the link in our bio, and if Bommie is the prize you REALLY have your eye on, come meet this adorable girl and help her finally strut out of the shelter and into a home of her own! 🐾✨   The Humane Society of Broward County is located at 2070 Griffin Road in Fort Lauderdale and adoption kennels open daily at 11 a.m. Call 954-989-3977 with any questions.
